Description

Sex sells, and Richard is about to find out exactly how much his submission is worth.

Richard is desperate for money. With his father needing long-term care and graduate school looming, he needs a lump sum of cash, and fast. Selling himself via the Delphic Agency seems the quickest way to get ahead of his problems, but to earn the kind of money he needs Richard has to offer more than he bargained for.

Accepting a two-week contract as resident submissive to a man who switches between casual friend and relentless dominant at the drop of a paddle leaves Richard sure of only two things: one, he wants to please this man more than anything, and two, never mind the money, he never wants this to end.

But you don’t buy people from the Delphic Agency, only time. And as Richard falls repeatedly to his knees, time is running out, and Richard is no closer to knowing if the man who has awakened his inner submissive will want more of him or send him on his way.

Paid to Kneel is the first book in the Delphic Agency Series and contains dom/sub elements, plenty of steamy kink exploration, and a surprising amount of love.

Paid to Kneel: A Steamy Gay BDSM Romance
    Delphic Agency, Book 1
    By: Romilly King
    Narrated by: Gavin McAllister

I enjoyed this book immensely, the story grabbed my attention right from the start and captivated it straight to the end. This is my first book written by Romilly King and it certainly will not be my last. I enjoyed his writing style and his way with words. He created an original story with interesting storylines. His characters are complex and well develped, they are likable, easy to relate to and connect with. I adored the two leads, Richard and Ash, I thought they were great together and for each other. Richard in need of money resorts to the oldest profession, after some research he found the best way to go about it. I could not help but admire him for why he went this route and his dedication to stick with it. Unbeknownst to him he gets more than he bargained for. I was not sure how I felt about Ash at first impression but he grew on me rather quickly. I loved how everything plays out in this book, how their relationship started to become more than just a business arrangement. Speaking of business, I also loved the premise of the Delphic Agency and the Emptor/Venditor arrangement, that you can not buy people, just time. The story is cleverly plotted, there is plenty of drama, some heartfelt and emotional moments, some hot kink and great scening. Romilly King thank you for this fabulous story and for casting the perfect narrator to bring you story to life.

I listened to the Audible edition, Gavin McAllister is a talented narrator and versatile voice artist. He brings these characters to life, giving each their own distinct voice which makes it easy to follow along. He does an awesome job portraying the characters, he grasps their personas and plays each role with perfection, sounding just as I picture them to sound. He sets the perfect tone for the story, captures the character’s emotions and projects them into his performance. He is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for the fabulous listen🎧

I normally don’t do anything fantasy but this author made me curious. When I was given a chance to get a free copy and I love but can’t afford audio’s so I thought I’d try this. I’m glad I did. I didn’t find so much fantasy as much as plenty of sex. Richard is introduced into plenty non vanilla sex. Ash is a Dom who contracts Richard’s services. There is plenty of drama and though I got a feel for Richard from the beginning it was not till almost the end I really got an understanding of Ash. When they acknowledge the compatibility between them the relationship fits together. I feel the narration done by Gavin McAllister brought these two guys to life and the story so real.

Plot: Interesting concept of future world where prostitution is institutionalized; majority of the story ‘reads’ like a BDSM primer as Richard is systematically introduced to Ash’s world; single POV – Richard
Feels: Couldn’t connect with Ash, really wished this was told with dual POV
Drama: A bit of angst as Richard blossoms as a sub and develops feelings for Ash
    Heat: 3/5
Characters: You really end up rooting for Richard; Ash is such a mystery until the end
Pacing: slow-burn romance, though not a slow-burn erotica
    Length: Just right
    Ending: HEA + appreciated epilogue
Performance: Gavin McAllister delivers another engaging and solid narration

This was my first book by Romily King, but it definitely won’t be my last. “Paid to Kneel” had me hooked from the beginning and I was captivated until the end.

Richard needs a lot of money in the near future to afford care for his sick father. So he signs up with the Delphic Agency to earn as much as he can as quickly as possible. He agrees to a two-week contract and is to live as a sub in Ash’s house, although bdsm is new to Richard.

The story is told exclusively from Richard’s point of view, although Ash dominates the bedroom scenes. This has been done very cleverly by the author. The story is very well written and it was a pleasure to listen to the audiobook.
Ash is a hot Dom who has good reason to turn to the Delphic Agency. As a reader you directly feel the emotions and the feelings of Richard, Ash on the other hand remains distant, which was a good fit.
I liked the development of the two protagonists very much, I felt the sizzle directly and my heart bled for Richard.
The plot was interesting, there is some drama but also emotional moments and of course there are smoking hot sex scenes.

I didn’t know Gavin McAllister before, but he is the absolute perfect narrator for this audio book and gave a great performance. I could distinguish the different voices well and he conveyed the emotions very well. I was absolutely blown away by Gavin MacAllister and will certainly be listening to more audiobooks from him.

I enjoyed “Paid to Kneel” very much and will certainly listen to it again. I’m also looking forward to more books written by Romily King! The combination King/McAllister is absolutely brilliant!
    Highly recommend!
