I really enjoyed this book. I love the fact that the main character specialises in antiques and gets to visit lots of interesting homes and solve a murder or too. In this, the seventh book in the series the murder occurs at the start of the book and then goes back in time to explain why Marty has been requested to visit the home and for you to guess who the killer is after being introduced to the suspects. Then the mystery unfolds very quickly, with warnings to be careful and always take the loveable dog Balto with her. A great fun series.
Camille had plans to build a museum to hold all her many artefacts she had collected over the years. She finds the perfect place to build it and is the first to place a bid on the land beating out two other bidders. She hires Marty to come and appraise the items but it killed before she can even step in the front door. With Marty’s husband Jeff busy already handling two other murders
Investigations Marty decided to lend a hand and try to narrow the suspect list down. Is the killer Camille only son upset over losing his inheritance? Or his money grabbing wife? It could also be one of the two competitors that wanted the land for there own projects. With Marty’s sister getting a funny feeling everybody knows that what ever Marty does she will have to take Balto with her. And with Balto’s own hunches he might prove to be more than just a guard dog.
I liked the narrator. Kasey always puts in a good performance with her characters.

I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this audiobook! It captured my attention from the start and kept delivering. I would give it a five star rating.
This cozy mystery is really well-written. Author Dianne Harman created a cast of characters with motives for committing the murder of wealthy Camille. Camille had a mega collection of art, as well as western and Native American artifacts. At the time of her death, she was in the process of purchasing a desert property near Palm Springs. She planned to build a museum to house her extensive collection and share it with the public. Other people also wanted the desirable property and had motivation for murdering Camille in order for the sale to fall through and go back on the market. The property was in a prime location for a desert resort, a shopping mall, and a tribal casino. It was also the habitat for a large number of desert tortoises and was of interest to the environmental community.
One of the main characters, Marty, aids her husband detective Jeff with the investigation of Camille’s murder. Dog lovers will appreciate the couple’s dogs, who are part of the story. It is not necessary to have listened to other books in the series prior to this audiobook. It is a stand alone.
Narrator Kasey Logan does an excellent job with the voices of the characters.
This book would have been even better if the story was longer. It was so good that I wanted more!
