Description

A vandalized doctor’s office
Being built for a paranormal doctor.
Two men in love with the same woman
Sometimes it’s hard to figure out
Who’s human and who’s paranormal!

Jessie, the Alpha of a werewolf pack living in the small town of Little Feather, Oklahoma, has recruited a doctor to set up his medical practice in the town. Like Jesse, the doctor is also a werewolf.

In his everyday normal life as a perceived human, Jessie is a general contractor and has agreed to build a new medical building for the doctor. But when the building is under construction, it’s vandalized. Miranda and the chief of police are committed to finding out who did it and why.

Life would be a lot easier if the lines between paranormal and human weren’t quite so fuzzy. Miranda’s a human paranormal investigator, however the residents of the town, and the chief of police, think she’s a private investigator. But when she starts to investigate the case, she learns things that make her wonder if she really is human.

Surely a human wouldn’t be experiencing what she is. Could she be a throwback to something that was thought to be extinct? Is that why she can see and smell things that humans can’t?

A Matter of Extinction is the fifth book in the Miranda Riley Paranormal Cozy Mystery Series by Krystal Doolittle and Dianne Harman, USA Today best-selling author and Amazon All-Star.

I am really enjoying this series. I like how the main character needs to come up with a believable human reason for the crimes, to keep the paranormal world a secret. The main story gets solved by Miranda but there is also the side story where her mother has gone off to try and solved the cold case of her husband’s death, I liked that that she ended up visiting the New Dawn bed and breakfast, somewhere were I have visited a lot with one of the authors other series. This part of the story is obviously a long running theme throughout the series and you learn a little bit more with each book. The mystery was different and consisted of a supernatural causing havoc on a build instead of the usual murder mystery but I still enjoyed it and look forward to seeing how the series plays out because I think there is going to be a big twist in the tail.
When a building that Miranda’s ex boyfriend Jessie is building is vandalised all the signs point to the paranormal. What else could blast though several walls of the new doctors surgery? Miranda as the paranormal investigator doesn’t know but she does know that what ever it is she has to stop the sheriff and the new man in her life from finding out and stop it at the same time. She needs Jessie’s help, as the werewolf alpha he knows everything that is going on and together they will need to find out who would want to put a stop to a doctor that can treat both humans and paras from moving in. But will working together put her new relationship in jeopardy? Does someone have a grudge with Jessie and are they working alone?
I like the narrator she does a good job with the voices of all the different characters.

I really enjoyed this paranormal cozy mystery. I am now more curious than ever about Miranda’s history and father. The storyline is well written and full of romance, humor, and intrigue. Kasey Logan does an excellent job narrating the book giving the characters a life of their own. I highly recommend this book. I received this book from Audiobooks Unleashed and this is my honest unbiased review.
