Marked and Mated: An Alpha Shifter Romance (Book 2) “Listened to audio narrated by J.T. Farrell. I thought he did a nice job with the accents and breathing life into the various characters. Although I wish there was a bit more variation with the female voices. Jean-Michel Gautier is the leader of his pack, he knows he has a tough road with Darby given her history but he is determined to give her the guidance and discipline his mate needs. Darby Callan was traded to an abusive alpha, who forced a mating on her. She vows never to be knotted and mated again. She joined a pack of women all determined to escape from forced matings and beatings. This book is all about alpha Daddies taking their fated mates in hand with domestic discipline. After Jean-Michel's pack hunts down the wayward pack of female shifters he realizes Darby is his Fated Mate. He knows she's been abused but sees his own form of discipline as something she needs to be happy and content, not abuse. When Jean-Michel's mate disrespects him or behaves badly she faces time in the corner, a mouth filled with soap, as well as many, many spankings. This was a battle of wills as Jean-Michel must get past Darby's walls of fear. She is determined not to be abused and taken unwillingly again. When punishment turns to wild passionate nights she knows he's her fated mate, whether she likes it or not. This genre isn't for everyone but for those that do, I think you'll enjoy their Daddy and little girl time and skirting and going over lines of consent. This was an okay read for me, I struggled with the fact that they are clearly in the 21st century but it kept feeling like it was more historic. I would have also liked more time to feel their emotional connection. They had a lot of passion in the bedroom after her punishments but I didn't always feel their connection outside of it. Shifter Alpha Claim 4 “3.5 of 5 stars Listened to audio narrated by Holly Elise. As I indicated in previous reviews, it's hard to review without giving story away so there are spoilers in this review. This is part of 4 of 6 short vignettes about a hybrid shifter who is on the cusp of changing. In order for her to change she needs another shifter to help her transition by having sex with her. It's also about the hybrid vampire Narah that Talyn hired to protect her. At this point in the series Talyn had been kidnapped and two separate groups have come to rescue her. The hyrbrid vampire Narah and her team as well as, Arden and Merck go in to rescue Talyn. While Talyn does get away it comes with a steep price for Talyn and Narah's secret being revealed. To save herself Talyn must transition but will it be willingly or by force and who will be in Talyn's future? While this is suppose to be a short, there's chunks of story missing leaving the details of exactly what happened to the various characters and during important events up to the reader's imagination, Then too much time is spent on the secondary characters making a reader feel like Talyn was forgotten. There's also some odd word choices, mixed with some intimate, connected moments leaving me feeling a confused reader wanting to like this book more than I did. Shifter Alpha Claim 3 “3.5 of 5 stars Listened to audio narrated by pretty well Holly Elise. There were some sound issues where the volume didn't match up but it was only a few spots. This is the third novelette in the six part series, things are take a turn for the worse for Talyn. While I've tried not to give everything away, there are still some spoilers in this review. Also, I just realized Narah Adrienne's story started in a previous series called 'Vampire Alpha's Claim' and you may want to read that before continuing if you don't like getting ahead of storylines. Talyn is reeling with discovering who she is and that her long time friend Arden isn't who she thought he was. While Arden and Merck fight over her she takes off and ends up getting kidnapped by a group of mutables that don't really care if she wants to breed with them or not. Paranormals are coming out of the woodwork vying to get her to transition and either impregnate her or turn her over to their clan/colony etc.. to be paired off so she can breed and many of them don't care if she's willing. After Talyn is kidnapped, we get introduced to quite a few more shifters including a prehistoric shifter named Drake, the Vamps and Arden and Merck head to the rescue and the story ends on a cliffhanger. I didn't like this one as much as the first two, the way shifters view women is pretty terrible and we're not given any insight that mated women are much better off in this episode. The side story with Narah doesn't blend well, even though it is part of Talyn's story too much of Narah's story distracts from Talyn's and makes the reading feel a bit disjointed. Hopefully things will get better in the next one. If you like my reviews I hope you will follow my blog. https://wyldheartreads.wordpress.com/”
Shifter Alpha Claim 2 “Listened to audio narrated well by Holly Elise. This is part two of a six part series. Each of these are short novelettes, they are a quick read and a fast listen if you are listening to the audio. In this episode Dr. Talyn Phisher is still reeling about being a hybrid and she’s not to enthusiastic about changing into anything. Add into the mix more than one person wants to help her with her transition. If that wasn’t enough she’s got something extra special all the paranormal boys want, making her catnip to the good and the bad, putting her into danger. In this installment Arden her friend for the past twenty years has a secret he’s been keeping, he’s been waiting for Talyn for a very long time and is going to give Merck a run for his money. Of course this episode ends just when things get extremely interesting so make sure to have the next episode handy. Like the previous installment, I received a free copy and this is my honest review. Shifter Alpha Claim 1 “Listened to audio narrated by well Holly Elise. This is a part of one of a six part series. It's a short novelette about a hybrid werewolf that has no idea what she is but she's about to learn. This review is a bit spoilery. Dr. Talyn Phisher is a counselor, she helps others while feeling frustrated and out of sorts with her body. She 35 doesn't realize she's about to go through the change, she just knows her joints ache and her body doesn't seem her own anymore. She also seems to have attracted some unwanted attention, being attacked in her office and being followed by a strange man with blue eyes. Merck is a lycan warrior changer, he's been assigned to follow Talyn and assist her in her change. When she is attacked he goes against protocol and steps in to protect her. When law enforcement doesn't take her attack seriously Talyn goes to Final Enforcement who enlighten Talyn on who she really is and all hell breaks loose. I have to say I'm not a fan of serials but since I have the next few books ready, I'm okay with it because everything in this first segment captured my interest. I like that Talyn is a smart and successful woman, dealing with her life and perceived challenges. I don't think Merck was given enough time on the page but the time he did have made me want to know more about him. I received a free copy of this book and I'm voluntarily leaving a review. Her Alien Doctors “2.75 of 5 stars Listened to audio narrate by Logan McAllister. Fair warning, if erotic and punitive spankings, and Daddy/little girl play isn't your thing, this is not the book for you. The culture off planet Earth is all about women being treated as 'little girls' who get spanked when they misbehave or just for giving pleasure. The men are all dominant and will brook no misbehavior. If you can't enjoy reading about that kind of world, this isn't the book for you. Now if it IS your thing, this book is filled with lots of Daddy/little girl interactions, punitive spankings, medical examinations and three dominant alien doctors. Earth is over crowded and has put a limit on the number of children and unauthorized females are sent to training centers to be trained and sold to become a wife to intergalactic husband(s). Jenny is an unauthorized third child or a poor family, we start her story in the detention center, right after the food fight in 'Wedded to Her Warriors.' Her punishment for her part in the fight is to undergo Examination and medical training, by three alien doctors. Jenny never seems to learn her lessons so she is constantly being punished and just when you think she's learning she pulls a 'too stupid to live' moment that almost costs her her life. I consider this more of an erotic read or a stroke book for folks who want to read about either their spanking or Daddy/little girl fantasies, than a romance. I never felt the romance and the instant Daddy, little girl language just felt awkward, it might have felt more realistic if the author had let the foursome develop trust or any sort of relationship besides forcing her to fall into the role or be punished. It's an okay read if your looking for kinky, erotica, but there's a lot repetition and very little realism that allows a reader to immerse themselves in this world. Wedded to the Warriors “Listened to audio narrate by well by Richard Peterson. So first thing, if erotic and punitive spankings aren't your thing, this is not the book for you. The culture on the alien world is such that woman must obey men or they are punished by spankings. If you can't enjoy reading about that kind of world, this isn't the book for you. Now if it IS your thing, I think you might enjoy Wedded to Warriors because the heroine gets herself into trouble repeatedly, and actually enjoys most of her spankings and 'punishments.' Aimee is the forbidden third child, she's spoiled rotten and full of self-importance. After not getting her way about getting a car from her father she decides to steal one. She's caught and charged with grand theft as well as being an illegal third child and sent off planet to a female detainment center to be trained to become a wife off planet. When her terrible behavior makes her unsuitable for their regular clients she is married off to 'alien savages,' who have multiples husbands for one wife. Tobias is the elected Supreme Ruler of his planet and Cole and Luke are fellow generals in the Ollorin Skyguard with Tobias. They are all stern and more than happy to spank their wild wife, who can't seem to learn to obey. Aimee is TSTL, (too stupid to live) and too immature for me, I had hoped she would mature in the story but she does not. The aliens seem too human, and aside from the hovering cabs, some advanced technology most everything sounds very human on their world, the use of the word dude screamed 'I'm not really an alien' as I read. Their food, clothing and even their speech is human. So for realism I give this a one, but for erotic, kinky, foursome, with sadomasichism and domestic discipline the author hits a lot of the things people like to read about, but there's not a lot of variety or depth. I think that author had the bones of a good story but execution fell short for me. If you like my reviews I hope you will follow my blog. https://wyldheartreads.wordpress.com/”
