I'm a sucker for the likeable hot-jock-room-mate trope so I just had to get this, but the story is kinda ridiculous. I didn't see how this was a comedy since Abigail's about as fun as a sack of potatoes. The narrator was alright, though she sounded more like Abi's great-aunt than the 20 year old herself. Perhaps that's why I didn't care to listen to her overly critical inner dialogue (which was dripping with low-self-esteem and thirsty AF). As for Casey, maybe guys like what they either can't have or actually have to work to get at? 🤷🏻♀️ But to be fair, things get better towards the end, especially when they're finally honest with each other. Be forewarned, it ends unresolved. Possible cliffhanger?”

I was totally enthralled by the witchy lore of this erotic story, and several of the characters; especially her sassy raven familiar Lelura and Philip in his brief appearance. He was the first one who believed in Catarina, which gave her confidence. Devarious sounded like such a sweet, quiet, joyful baby. Ashton's early misfortunes in life was so sad! Luckily Vincent had a loving, supportive family and you just know mischievous Nikata's fearful beliefs in witches was definitely going to be a challenge for Catarina. 😛 And there was one caveat that I had to gloss over though... the mother was so nonchalant after centuries of not hearing from her daughter. Finally, the narration wasn't the best. She kept stumbling over some words and I couldn't lose myself in the story because of it. My rating would have been much, much higher otherwise.”

Wow, wow, I was not expecting much from this, but I seriously loved it! Those unattended fifteen minutes, ooh boy, that was so hot. The relationship between all four was well-developed and believable. I mean, if you're going to be competing as teammates for weeks on end, your bond can only come out of the racing experience either stronger than ever, or irrevocably destroyed. That was the difference between Brooke and Melissa. I even liked the friendships forged or renewed along the way.”

Suspense isn't my usual genre of choice, but from start to finish, I was enthralled. I didn't realize this was part of a series, and listened to this first. The story could be a standalone and I didn't feel like I was missing out on anything. I usually like a bit more steam with my romances; this was pretty clean, aside from kisses and getting to second base. Gwendolyn Druyor's performance here reminds me of Johanna Parker from the Sookie Stackhouse (Southern Vampire) series. The pacing was just right and made for an entertaining short listen.”

This is such a great prequel. I just loved Jules's character and the unique setting with all the different types of supernaturals. I was immediately intrigued by her past life and current situation. I really feel for her. The three guys she works with have a story of their own as well because we get to hear their points of view too. The narrator was good, but she had a an almost robotic, monotone inflection that was only made tolerable when I listened to this at 1.3x speed. That's probably why the 1hr and 46 min flew by so quickly. Nevertheless, I so want the next book to be released! The chemistry between Jules and Ajax was just too hot.🔥 Contains mature scenes, so 18+ only.”
