Suspense isn’t my usual genre of choice, but from start to finish, I was enthralled. I didn’t realize this was part of a series, and listened to this first. The story could be a standalone and I didn’t feel like I was missing out on anything. I usually like a bit more steam with my romances; this was pretty clean, aside from kisses and getting to second base. Gwendolyn Druyor’s performance here reminds me of Johanna Parker from the Sookie Stackhouse (Southern Vampire) series. The pacing was just right and made for an entertaining short listen.
