I listened to this book and truly enjoyed it!
TWISTED is not a book for James Patterson fans. It’s for those who love poetry, love to think, love the power of words. To those types of readers, I would most definitely recommend this collection of stories.
I loved the imagery of Ms. Poznansky’s writing. She is a dreamer and an artist, and the wild flights that her mind takes are fascinating.
My favorite scene/story within this collection of four stories was the one told from a clay figure’s point of view., FROM DUST. I loved how well Ms. Poznansky gets into the minds of even an “inanimate” object, bringing the statue to life with power and possibilities. Amazing.
Heather Jane Hogan (the narrator) is truly outstanding. I found the first story, however, to be spoken to ponderously, too slowly. I had to speed up my playback to 1.25, which felt about “right.” I never had to do that before. All of the other stories felt perfectly timed. I think perhaps it was done purposefully because of the storyline, so it’s understandable. Another note: it was quite shocking to realize we were hearing the innermost thoughts of a dead woman! ;o)

I have long been a fan of Uvi Poznansky’s thrillers and David Chronicles and was captivated by this title when I discovered her audiobooks. After three minutes, I couldn’t help but think of the Monty Python catch phrase, “And now for something completely different!” But I couldn’t stop listening! While one reviewer described Heather Jane Hogan’s narration as initially “ponderous,” I found it appropriately deliberate and perfect for the cerebral tone I think Uvi was seeking for this anthology of mind-bending tales. We begin by exploring the thoughts of the unnamed “Job’s wife,” as she spars with Satan and a vain rival in a hell both have inherited through their vanity and selfishness. In another vignette, a sculpted Eve (or Woman) ponders the nature and purpose of her creation and that of her molded companion, Adam, at the hands of her creator and faces the prospect of bronzed, but replicated immortality. The final segment takes us into the mind of an aging cat who considers her loathing for and dependence on an equally ancient woman with whom she is trapped indoors in the fading years of their lives. The writing is superb and provocative, with just enough “What the hell is going on here?” to have kept me thinking about these stories since. A 5-star journey into a world that is not quite dystopian and not exactly metaphysical, but completely absorbing!

Twisted, by Uvi Poznansky, is a collection of short stories. I really enjoyed the original points of view. The stories reminded me of the Twilight Zone or Alfred Hitchcock Presents.
My favorite story is the first one! It is about Job’s wife and her experience in the afterlife. She is definitely an interesting character. It was refreshing to think about this story from a new perspective. I would love to read an entire book based solely on this character.
I am not a fan of Heather Jane Hogan’s narration of this book. Her interpretation sounded depressed, very depressed. I had to speed up the book to make it more enjoyable. It won’t stop me from listening to it again, though.
