Description

Alice is the best friend and confidante of Emma, the about-to-be Duchess of Leyton who is set to marry the Duke after a fairy tale courtship. All she wants is to help Emma have an equally fairy tale wedding. Instead, she is stymied at every turn by the Duke’s childhood friend, Lord Harrison. She is certain this annoying man’s only purpose in life is to make her life miserable and does everything in her power to avoid him. Could the Lord’s behavior be hiding his true feelings for Alice or is he just oblivious to her pain? And what will happen if they suddenly decide that they have overpowering feelings for each other?

I received a free copy of this audiobook from Audiobooks Unleashed in exchange for an honest review.
Too much story too little time to flush it out I felt. I liked where it was going, but half way through the enemy to lover theme kicked in and I didn’t believe that Alice, who was insulted and diminished by the rake Harrison, would so quickly fall in ‘love’ with him. Not impossible but overnight? I liked most of the characters and the setting. I also questioned the fact that the two couples lived in the Duke’s mansion in preparation for their wedding and the best friends, Alice and Harrison, visited each other at night. A bit of impropriety there for the times. The narration was good.
