Synopsis:

Talyn finds herself in a compromised position – literally.

Having escaped the supernatural battle raging inside her house, she falls into the wrong set of arms, and soon finds herself alone in a prison constructed of Mutables, a group of shifters that can change into virtually any animal. They too, have a limited female population.

Talyn doesn’t care. She refuses to become the Lycan Merck and Arden insist she’ll become, though her beast is clawing to escape.

But a revelation about her lineage makes becoming a Lycan a surety, rather than a choice. The question that haunts Talyn is: who will transition her? Friend, foe – or lover?

Listened to audio narrated well by Holly Elise.

This is part two of a six part series. Each of these are short novelettes, they are a quick read and a fast listen if you are listening to the audio.

In this episode Dr. Talyn Phisher is still reeling about being a hybrid and she’s not to enthusiastic about changing into anything. Add into the mix more than one person wants to help her with her transition. If that wasn’t enough she’s got something extra special all the paranormal boys want, making her catnip to the good and the bad, putting her into danger.

In this installment Arden her friend for the past twenty years has a secret he’s been keeping, he’s been waiting for Talyn for a very long time and is going to give Merck a run for his money.
Of course this episode ends just when things get extremely interesting so make sure to have the next episode handy.

Like the previous installment, I received a free copy and this is my honest review.

    3.5 of 5 stars
Listened to audio narrated by pretty well Holly Elise. There were some sound issues where the volume didn’t match up but it was only a few spots.

This is the third novelette in the six part series, things are take a turn for the worse for Talyn. While I’ve tried not to give everything away, there are still some spoilers in this review. Also, I just realized Narah Adrienne’s story started in a previous series called ‘Vampire Alpha’s Claim’ and you may want to read that before continuing if you don’t like getting ahead of storylines.

Talyn is reeling with discovering who she is and that her long time friend Arden isn’t who she thought he was. While Arden and Merck fight over her she takes off and ends up getting kidnapped by a group of mutables that don’t really care if she wants to breed with them or not.

Paranormals are coming out of the woodwork vying to get her to transition and either impregnate her or turn her over to their clan/colony etc.. to be paired off so she can breed and many of them don’t care if she’s willing.

After Talyn is kidnapped, we get introduced to quite a few more shifters including a prehistoric shifter named Drake, the Vamps and Arden and Merck head to the rescue and the story ends on a cliffhanger.

I didn’t like this one as much as the first two, the way shifters view women is pretty terrible and we’re not given any insight that mated women are much better off in this episode. The side story with Narah doesn’t blend well, even though it is part of Talyn’s story too much of Narah’s story distracts from Talyn’s and makes the reading feel a bit disjointed. Hopefully things will get better in the next one.

Very intriguing continuing story about shifters and their escapes. I’m quite fond of Marata Eros stories. Tamara Rose Blodgett is new to me. Holly Elise Did quite well. Steamy and fascinated until the end.
