Reaper of Flames (The Artifact Reaper Saga Book 3)

(2 customer reviews)

Description

Unstable powers, a uncertain future, and one overwhelmed girl.

Chaos doesn’t even begin to explain my life. Now that the first two artifacts are a part of me the third haunts my dreams. It calls to me, overwhelming my senses. Between that, the council, the demon, and everything else, I did the only thing that I could think of, I took off. Hopefully, Charlie can forgive me for leaving without a word.

Disappearing seemed like my best option, until the demon found me, forcing my hand. Needing to save Becca and find the third artifact before him, I’m left with no other choice but to return and finish what I started.

To find the artifact in hell, I must turn to the council for assistance which reveals even more corrupted their true motives are. Now, I have to determine the right course for not just myself, but the world too.

The second book was my favorite and I had high hopes for this one. The story starts slow and it did take me awhile for it to capture my attention. There was more character development on the last one and I expected that to continue. Christina’s actions didn’t make sense to me at times and the story started focusing on her powers mainly.

    Narration was ok.

I felt sorry for poor Charlie that seems to always be left behind and out of the loop. I don’t understand why she thinks so badly of the council, yet trusts them way too much. It seems like she cannot trust anyone. Old characters show up and we never really understand their angle in the story.

There seems to be more action but I was surprised how nobody seems to care about getting prepared for such big missions. It’s more like let’s wing it with no preparation or plan to succeed.

I think more character development and world-building would have made a world of difference. The story did not flow as smoothly as it could have been.

    Looking forward to book 4.

All though this book is not as fast paced to start like book 2 it starts slow and builds up gradually to get you hooked in the yet more twists and turns of the plot and yet once again I find myself ready to start straight away in the next adventure wondering just what more has to come along. As always Shelley Reece’s narration is faultless and her voice paints perfect scenes in your mind as you go along with the ride. Jen L Grey writing is wonderfully imaginative and has me thinking in just how good this would be a movie or tv series and I’m surprised Netflix haven’t come knocking yet. What’s more to say than Jen take a bow well done and those who are reading this just stop and start listening you will not be disappointed.
