On Dogwood Mountain

Description

It’s the 1940’s and WWll is raging! Six girls and three boys, Mam’s children live with her in a log cabin that has no electricity or running water on an Appalachian mountain. Pap only comes home when he feels the notion–so life’s not easy. The struggles intensify when 13-year-old “Rethe” Pogue sees her brother, Wilburn, as he is drafted and goes to fight in the war.

Unexpected twists expose what life was like for so many mountain families during WWII in this gripping tale. The listener gets to know Mam and the children from the viewpoint of Rethe, the narrator, as she makes sense of it all and finds her role On Dogwood Mountain. *NO explicit sexual scenes.
