Description

If you’re only 24 and worth millions, you probably think you’re invincible. And you’d be wrong.

Success can be a powerful motive for committing murder, but so are revenge, greed, and extramarital affairs.

When Connor, the boy wonder, rented out the entire Red Cedar Lodge and Spa for just himself and his assistant, that should have been a warning to Liz that he wasn’t an ordinary man.

It quickly becomes apparent to her that in order to protect her staff, Connor’s wife, and even Liz herself, she has to find the murderer before any of them becomes the next victim.

Real estate can be a dirty business, but unfit fathers can be just as bad. Sometimes if you just wait around long enough, you get a chance to see karma in action. Here’s your chance.

This is the 11th book in the Liz Lucas Cozy Mystery Series by two-time USA Today best-selling author Dianne Harman.

I love the Liz Lucas series and this book is no exception. This is book 11 in the series and it is a good example of why the series is still going strong. You don’t need to listen to them in order because all the stories are stand alone mysteries. The story is supported by a great cast of characters, that by Book 11 feel like old family friends, but it is the mystery that takes centre stage. It starts with the murder and then goes on to explain all the suspects motives for wanting the victim dead. It is a light enjoyable mystery that is sure to delight, as you cosy down to listen to and puzzle which of the many suspects had the biggest motive. Liz is pleased when the entire Red cedar lodge and spar is hired out by a high flying 24 year old real estate agent but it seems the booking wasn’t because he desired peace and quite but rather fear. It seems the 24 year old may have made a few enemies in his short life and after a smear campaign and threatening notes over a prolonged period of time, Connor has become paranoid and fears for his safety. Liz fearing for her staff encourages Connors assistant to go to the police or at least think about her staff by hiring a security team. There fears are realised when Connor fails to return from a business meeting and misses dinner. Was it a business deal gone wrong? Liz fed up with the hopeless sheriff, who is to worried about budget cuts and writing traffic tickets, to investigate and worried about Connor’s wife giving birth to his child without his killer being brought to justice, She and Winston, her faithful guard dog set out to find the killer. I like this narrator and I am glad she seems to be the preferred narrator for this series because she puts in a good performance every time. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
