Description

I have a secret.

A secret that chased me away from my home, my family, away from the only man I’ve ever loved.

I took that secret and pushed it down inside of me.

So far down, that it never had a chance of coming out.

That dirty little secret was like a seed. A seed that took root and grew to become a piece of me.

But what happens when that secret has finally outgrown me?

When its vines climb over every wall I have in place?

When it finally overfills that little spot inside of me that it’s been buried in for so long now?

All secrets come out eventually.

I just hope mine doesn’t destroy everyone I love.

My second KB Andrews listen and I was sucked in for 7 hours. This second chance romance is one that grabs you from the moment it starts and keeps you on the edge. Lex left home 6 years ago and has been summoned home to attend her sister’s engagement party. Arriving in town is tough, Lex left with unfinished business and secrets she just cannot share. Stryker is still pining after Lex, even though she left with no goodbye. His love for his high school sweetheart is unconditional and never ending. When these two see each other for the first time after all these years, the chemistry is thick, the tension high and you are just waiting for ice to break. But as expected, life is never that easy. Lex has a difficult family and things go from bad to worse. Stryker is not going to let her go so easily this time though. I loved their history, the glimpses of flashback we get to see how the two got to where they are, the circumstances of their childhoods and the secret that may blow up any chance of happiness they have. The secondary characters in the families really bring the out so much in the personalities of the couple too, giving the story real depth. This second chance romance is full of angst, high emotions, crazy family turmoil and a twist I didn’t see coming!

Sarah Puckett’s talented voice gives this story life. I think her narration is flawless. She can seamlessly switch between characters, and I find her narrating voice very soothing. her ability to inflect the emotions in this story as well as the heat is perfect and gives us the perfect movie in our minds as we listen.

This was really good, I love Striker and Lex, the chemestry between them is so good, and their emotions toward each other are so intense that even 6 years apart couldn’t erase everything they feel towards each other.

It has a good pace and you won’t be able to stop listening, with some funny moments courtesy of young Lex and Striker. But it also has some frustrating ones specially with their parents. The secrets, the emotions, the regrets and the love made this a good book.

The narrattion by Sarah Pukett was so so good, she’s really amazing at brining a story to life, her male voice is pretty good which makes it even better. You can’t go wrong with her.
