Reviewers Choice Best Fantasy Romance Series of 2016 – The Muse Chronicles (Paranormal Romance Guild)

Book 2 of The Muse Chronicles

“Another beautiful series from an unbelievable author. She gets me every time.” (Number one NYT best-selling author Sherrilyn Kenyon)

The prophecy: Every generation, the nine daughters of Zeus are reborn, and with their rebirth are also nine Guardians. They will be marked by the gods, and given gifts to protect his treasure. Their abilities will only be unlocked when they find their muse.

Callie O’Connor’s life has never been the same since the Muse of Epic Poetry came alive inside of her. Now, she’s on the other side of the country, working as civilian psychologist for the Navy and leading her Muse sisters in their quest to reopen the Theater of the Muses.

But nothing could have prepared her for Hunter Armstrong. He’s a Navy SEAL – driven, confident, and dangerous. And he plans to do more than just protect her.

The gods couldn’t have picked a better Guardian. But as Hunter soon discovers, Callie has some skeletons of her own in the closet, and loving her could lead to his destruction.

  1. Jerry Harkey

Callie is the Muse of Epic Poetry in this 2nd book of the series. This one is better than the first in story line if you’ve read the 1st as the entire premise is now known to you. I also had more empathy with the main protagonists as well as the surrounding cast of characters. Good build up to the following books after a satisfying ending. You can see the “bad guys” changing strategy while the Guardians are building their defenses. Excellent series and growing…

This is Book 2 of the Muse Chronicles. Callie O’Conner is the muse of Epic Poetry and a Psychologist working with the Navy. Hunter is a Navy Seal and never expected to feel such a pull towards Callie but things he can’t explain begin to happen. This book had action, some steamy scenes, and danger looming.

Callie is the Muse of Epic Poetry in this 2nd book. She’s a dare devil, but I thought she was a bit whiny not wanting to get involve with Hunter. I like Hunter, I like a man that knows what he like. He didn’t let fear stand in the way. I felt sad for Alicia. Overall I like this story. Looking forward to reading the next book.

    Title: Legend of Love
    Author: Lisa Kessler
    Format: Audio
    Narrator: Gwendolyn Druyor
Genre: Romance, SciFi, Fantasy, Fated Mates, Mystery/Thriller
Standalone: Not really. This couple’s story is complete but the overarching story is not And while this overarching story is summarized at convenient moments I’d highly recommend reading this series in order
Part of a Series: Book 2 of The Muse Chronicles
POV: Hunter, Callie, Reed, Ted, Bryce
    Steam Level: steamy at times
    4/5

Callie is the Muse of Epic Poetry and the leader of the current muses reborn. Hunter is a Navy SEAL just trying to get back to his psych clearance so he can rescue the teammate that was captured on his last mission. But the gods have other plans for him. After meeting with Callie he starts hearing people’s thoughts but only when those thoughts are about her. That won’t help with his psych clearance. Hunter’s thirst for adventure feeds Callie and her muse’s soul. I liked how Lisa Kessler dealt with Hunter still being on active duty. I like the building tension in Legend of Love but the narration was still a bit jarring, especially with male voices – despite the narrator doing a great job of distinguishing characters’ voices.

    I’m loving this series.

I listened to the first book in this series a year ago and fully intended to continue listening to the rest of the series. I’m not sure why I didn’t do that then. I decided to jump back in because Lisa Kessler will be a featured author at a book convention I’m attending next February and I wanted to get back to this series before the convention; I’m so glad that I decided to continue listening to this series.

If I remember correctly, book one set up the premise for the series. I’ve read at least 300 books since I listened to book one so I was actually surprised at how much came back to me when I started listening to this book. I think this series is probably best read in order to get the most out of it but the author does cover some of the details you need to understand what’s going on.

I don’t know a thing about Greek mythology but I didn’t need to; I enjoyed listening to this very much. The story is filled with mystery, action and secret things and I couldn’t put it down once I started listening to it. The romance for the main couple is solid but the story has what I call a soft cliffhanger. No one is left in immediate danger but the threat that connects all of the stories in the series isn’t yet resolved. I’m ready to jump right in to the next book and this time I won’t be deterred! 😊

Gwendolyn Druyor did a good job performing this story.
