Kind of a slow start but it finally got going and we’re set for the rest of the series…after a cliff-hanger! I just hate when that happens, but hey, if you like vampires (born or turned), Lycans (and werewolves, there is a difference), along with romance and some action, this is good start.

The first book of the series always worries me because when setting up a series it requires back ground and world building. This one starts out quite slow and I found my mind wondering while listening. Honestly the whole first part really could have been summarized. I get wanting to know the difference between born and made vampires but really that’s not what this story was about. Lisbeth is a born Vampire who comes across a wolf pup and sends her home. This earns her an alphas bracelet of protection and breaks one of her laws. When hunters show up her friend Olivia warns her and helps her escape. The story starts getting good when Knight a shifter and enemy enters the picture. I quite enjoyed the last half and am now curious to see where the story goes. It does end on a cliffhanger. I will say hold out it gets better. The narrator was okay. I didn’t just love her or find really anything wrong with her. She does the job of giving each character their voice but I feel it could have used a little more emotional depth.

This was a solid read, I wasn’t blown away by it, but it wasn’t bad. It feels like we are just beginning to scratch the surface of this story line. The fact that there are so many books after this indicate that there will be a lot more to this story. I really like Lis, I think she is a strong woman.

The narrator did a great job.
