Description

Nora Arnsby fights her way into a world dominated by men.

When a break-in shatters the sense of home she’s created, Nora can’t find her footing. With the intruders growing bolder and her safety at risk, she reaches out to the only person who will listen, even if it means asking a man for help. The stranger across the street is handsome and persistently kind, so different from other men.

Mathias Horton refuses to let any woman get close to him.

Nursing a broken heart and equally shattered dreams, he wants to avoid the new hat maker. However, he can’t stand to see anyone in need – especially this one. Her spirit, determination, and bright blue eyes compel him to do what he can to help her…protect her. But the more time he spends with her, the more he begins to care.

Mathias must resume the life he gave up to save the one who ignites his battered heart, or admit defeat and let her go back to Deadwood.

Nora and Mathias story is just as wonderful as every one in this series! Kari Trumbo has quickly become one of my favorite authors and her writing always pulls at my heart! Nora has come to Hot Springs to open up a haberdashery, her dream and she finally finds a building that will work so that she can also live there in the back. Across the street is the mercantile and she meets handsome Mathias but his sister is terrible to Nora for some reason. Mathias guards his heart due to having been jilted in the past and his sister, a widow does not want that to happen again and she sees Nora as a threat to him. But all is not as it seems and there are many mishaps that put Nora in danger and it kept me turning the pages to see what would happen. With the writing of Kari and the great narration of Carol Grace Anderson, I could only sigh as I heard the last word. Do not miss this or any of this amazing series!

I loved the suspense, adventure, and mystery in this book. These characters are great and there were twists and turns I was not expecting. The narration was great and brought the story to life.
