Oh wow, talk about a thrilling thriller. I just loved this book. I read the book when it first came out but I was still captivated until the very end listening to the audio book. I also spent most of the time guessing who the killer was because there was so much going on I couldn’t remember who was involved. I loved the fact that most of the investigation took place in a hospital room as the main character recovers from a gunshot wound but that doesn’t mean Tess is weak or incapable because she is definitely not. The story does jump around as the story is told by a number of characters but I think that really works as it adds to the tension and mystery, giving reasons and clues by giving you the different perspectives. Nobody writes a thriller like this author and she should be on every bodies to be read list.
FBI Special Agent Tess Winnett is supposed to be recovering in hospital but when she learns that a body of a missing woman is found in her back garden, she fears that a serial killer is at work. With the clock ticking and another life on the line Tess must push herself and her team to find the clues the killer is leaving behind. Non of the victims seen to have a connection other than catching a glimpse of a man holding a rope days before they are taken. Then someone Tess knows, doesn’t turn up for work and Tess feels the pressure to find her before the time runs out and the clock stops ticking.
I liked the narrator. He used some good voices to differentiate each of the characters.
