I enjoyed this book. What I like is the fact that Gertrude might be getting on up there in years and walks with a walking frame but that doesn’t let it stop her, although with some of the situations she finds herself in maybe she should. Gertrude is a feisty but elderly gumshoe with a pension for getting what she wants. The mystery was good and I liked how the story played out, with one case leading on to another. The mystery isn’t very complicated and does lack suspects but I still enjoyed this quick listen.
It is a light hearted and often amusing mystery with no dead bodies, violence (unless you call getting hit with a walker violent) or bad language and contains some great sidekicks. This is book six in the series and they can be be read or listened to in any order, although some characters are introduced better in previous stories. I hope there is more Gertrude books to come.

The land developer Gertrude has her eye on, is at it again. So Gertrude and Calvin are headed to the shores of Clearwater Lake where the company is quickly buying up priority because a ghost is scaring away all the owners. An old girl friend of Calvin’s is one of the last to flee but when the ghost of the girl who drowned in the lake starts to serenaded her even she gets spooked. Gertrude doesn’t believe in ghosts and sets up a stake out to catch the perpetrator in the act. If she could only prove that the girl who is ment to be haunting the lake couldn’t possible be but the means solving a Twenty year old disappearance.
I liked the narrator she used a side range of voices to bring the characters to life.

This really is a cute series. I’m really glad they finished the story from the last book. Gertrude is a funny old lady. Even though she thinks she’s not old. The characters are fun to listen to. Great narrator too.
