Description

New Orleans is a hot mess.

Ancient feuds. Demonic forces bent on destruction. Oh, and apparently vampires are real.

Della didn’t sign up for any of this. She didn’t sign up for violence and mayhem in the streets of the Big Easy. She didn’t sign up to be a magnet for an evil force intent on hunting down the reincarnated souls of its enemies. She sure as hell didn’t sign up for rescue by a sinfully tempting vampire lord and his fashion-model-gorgeous friends. Especially since he seems convinced that she’s the living embodiment of his long lost human mate.

Seriously, this kind of stuff isn’t supposed to happen to insurance company receptionists from New Jersey. The world is descending into chaos. Now, a coven of hypnotically alluring bloodsuckers is trying to convince her they’re the good guys. And the really scary part is, she’s starting to believe them.

The Circle of Blood Series

I listen to this in the set of books 1-3 and it is excellent and you need to read all the books after book one . They tell the story of 6 vampire who lost the loves of their lives in another lifetime . It skip to present day and they find the souls of their lost loved ones in present day people. This tells the story of Tré who in a previous life was known as Vladimir Illych Romanov III he was a man of importance and respected but now he was just plain Tre.

    True Love Never DIES!

The last thing Trey expected was to ‘feel’ his long dead soulmate in the midst of a deadly gun battle. But that is what happens when he touches lovely Della. The fact that he is an elder Vampire, leader of the New Orleans coven and she is human complicates things.

Trey and his band of Vampire misfits are eternally locked in a struggle with demon lord Bael and it seems that for this fight at least that Della is at the centre of the battle.

His struggles to separate his feelings for his lost love and the human woman who carries her soul are at the heart of the story and does end with a HEA. But only after a lot of angst, some steam, a few laughs and much violence.

I loved listening to this book with its quirky characters and dark plotline. Although Trey and Della’s story concludes the fight against Bael goes on and I for one can’t wait to find out what happens next. More, please!

Well what can I say about this book without giving too much away, I’ll start by saying that once again these two talented writers have written a story I could not stop listening to. I had read some reviews prior to listening to it which said it wasn’t up to their usual standard but I think they were listening to or reading a different book to me!

This one is about Della, a human who lives in New Orleans works as a receptionist at an insurance company and has a pet goldfish called Jewel. Her life is ordinary and somewhat dull but it’s not going to stay that way. One day as she is going home from work she becomes involved in a vicious attack by a group of men who, for no reason, seem bent on killing everyone in the square she happens to be in. But miraculously her life is saved by a group of vampires who to all intents and purpose in this book are the good guys. The leader of the vampires, Tre’ felt an electrical charge when he helped her to her feet and recognized her as the reincarnation of his lost love Irina.

Della’s memory is altered so she has no memory of the vampires but when she is attacked again and the vampires again come to her aid Tre’ decides to tell her who and what he is. He asks her to stay with him for her own safety as the demonic power who made all the vampires is out to get revenge on her for saving Tre’s life when she was Irina, so many incarnations ago.

As the story progresses Della begins to learn more about the forces of evil working against her and as she and Tre’ spend more time together a bond forms between them, and as Della starts to remember her past lives she realizes that the love she felt for Tre’ all those lives ago has never been surpassed she comes to accept her fate and her part in defeating the evil force.

There is so much more I could say but then I would have to give spoilers which I refuse to do. What I will say is that I already have book two loaded onto my device so that I can listen to that one next.

The narration of this book by Gwendolyn Druyor is excellent, she brings this story to life beautifully. I loved the way all the accents are so individual and distinct, there is never any confusion about who is speaking. Also, the feelings expressed in her voice are vivid and you know just how happy, sad or afraid the people are.

You could listen to this book as a standalone but, I for one, want to know what happens to the remaining five vampires, will they too be reunited with their own lost loves? Will the demonic force trying to destroy them succeed?
