Broken Rules by Hanleigh Bradley is a Contemporary Billionaire Romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Shelby Hughes.
This is the third book of Hanleigh’s that I have read and it definitely won’t be my last. The story does end on a cliffhanger but that was no surprise since it’s the first book in The Rules Series. I cannot wait for the second book Enforced Rules to be released on audible.
Shelby did a good job on the narration. I liked that she used different voice/tones for the characters. The only thing I wished is that the narrator could have done the British accent for Landon.
I would recommend this book to anyone who loves Contemporary Romance, Billionaire Romance, or steamy Romances.

The premise of the story is great, but the plot seemed rushed. There are too many secrets revealed in both characters lives that happen simultaneously. I would have liked a little more time spent exploring those revelations, so that the plot had time to simmer before jumping right into the sexual relationship. The only other issue I had with this book, is that the narrator sounded so young that it made me cringe every time the erotic scenes played out. Despite the issues mentioned above, this book is worth the listen if you enjoy steamy romance novels.

I’m giving this 3stars because it felt like it was only the beginning of the story instead of a whole book. I definitely want more and can see the story going in a good direction. Only other thing I didn’t like was in the audio version it was a American voice actor instead of British and her voice was very young sounding for the characters in my opinion.

I loved listening to Aurora and Landon breaking their own set of rules. A sizzling story with decent narration. Clear vocals with no background noise. The only reason I left off a star for performance is due to the lack of British accent for the male main character who is supposed to be “Sexy-as-hell, British billionaire CEO. He’s seductive, downright naughty, and yet somehow, still a perfect English gentleman.”
The story does end on a cliffhanger, however, I am excited to move on to the next book in the series since book 1 held my interest.

This is the first book in The Rules Series, a steamy contemporary romance. Aurora and Landon’s story is interesting. They are opposites attract, and they share an instant attraction, and a sizzling chemistry. Aurora is a good girl, who has always followed her parents’s rules, until she decided to break them. Landon is a control freak. He has always followed his own rules, until he met Aurora. The storyline is steamy, and filled with secrets reveled. The story ends abruptly, and will continue in the next book in the Series, Enforced Rules. Shelby Hughes has a great voice. Surprisingly, the characters are from London, but the narrator doesn’t use a British accent. Despite that, she did a good job with the narration.

I don’t know how to describe Broken Rules. Landon is a man who has rules, rules to maintain his control. Aurora is out to break the rules she’s lived by her entire life, rules that were placed upon her by her parents. Landon and Aurora shouldn’t mix, but they do. Add in family drama, money and appearances and I’m not sure where this series will end up. This story kind of plods forward at a steady pace, but also goes back some when the POV is switched so that you can see both POV’s for the one event. It’s different but not unwelcome. Overall Broken Rules is a fun story and I look forward to seeing what will happen with Landon and Aurora and their both their family’s secrets.
