Hell Squad Series by Anna Hackett
The Bequest “A former Navy SEAL bent on revenging the death of his teammates collides with a headstrong broken women determined to protect her new charge. Sparks fly as the two battle to stay alive, retrieve the stolen weapons and fight their growing attraction to each other. I really enjoyed this action packed romance even though the narration was a little flat.”
The NightShade Forensic Files: The Atlas Defect “Another brilliant action packed entry in the Nightshade series featuring our heroes, new friendships, despicable villains and even some light romance. Eleri and Donovan along with Walter are in fine form as they hunt for the truth about horrendous experiments carried out on children years ago. As they search for answers among all the secrets and lies we also gain more insight into Donovan and how he may have come by his abilities. I thoroughly recommend this thriller for fans of P.W Child et al and look forward to listening to the rest of the series.”
The NightShade Forensic Files: Fracture Five “I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this fast paced action thriller continuing the adventures of Eleri and Donovan. This time they are hunting not one terrorist cell but several. With new allies and enemies the race is on to stop the carnage and discover the truth about a heinous betrayal in Fallujah. If they can't then many people will die including them. Another interesting plot that was only enhanced by Bill's narration and kept me hooked to the last word. I am really looking forward to listening to the next book in the series.”
The NightShade Forensic Files: Under Dark Skies “An enthralling introduction to the series, Bill Murphy does a good job fleshing out the characters and enhancing the story. An intriguing twist on Werewolf lore with the focus predominantly on the science rather than the mythology. A good mix of supernatural and thriller with an engaging cast. I look forward to listening to more books by this author and narrator.”
Stories Untold “Let me start by saying this is not a military romance as such. It is so much more. An exploration in desperation and self loathing with serious themes such as suicide that some readers may find distressing. In the end it is a story of hope and a never ending love. A thought provoking book that will not appeal to everyone due to its highly emotional content. However it is certainly worth listening to. Just make sure to have a large box of tissues near by before you start...”
Returning Home by the Sea “I loved this emotional love story with a realistic depiction of what it takes to sustain a military marriage. The compromises that are necessary and the willingness to cede control even though it goes against the very fibre of a military man. Is love enough? That is the question raised from the very start of the book and to get the answer the reader faces an emotional roller-coaster, that is well worth listening to.”
One Last Sin “The plot revolves around a man with amnesia who appears to be at the centre of an epic conspiracy where his lack of knowledge could get him and those around him including the woman he is falling in love with killed. I thoroughly recommend listening to this mystery thriller with no overt violence and hardly any sex. Although the sexual tension is so thick you could cut it with a knife.”
Ice Station Wolfenstein “Sam Cleave, washed up journalist is asked by his cop best friend Paddy to help with the investigation into the brutal murder of an elderly German. When he is given a mysterious box it leads him on a deadly adventure to find Nazi treasure and a secret Ice Station. Along the way he teams up with beautiful WWII history expert Dr. Nina Gould and eccentric billionaire Dave Purdue. During a treacherous Antarctic expedition the team discovers the secret Nazi base and the deadly secret it contains. A deadly secret that could destroy the world. The battle to survive has begun! Overall this was an excellent fast paced action thriller that I thoroughly enjoyed despite the poor narration and my growing dislike of the self absorbed Nina. Regardless I will continue listening to the series as I fell in love with Sam. An everyday hero facing extraordinary situations bravely and with a wicked sense of humour. Roll on the next deadly adventure.”
Frenzy The Omegaborn Trilogy, Book 1 “This is my first 'Omegaverse' but not my last. It is the story of what happens when a dedicated scientist is forced to confront her base nature and her darkest desires. Raven is an Omega living in a Dystopian future where emotions are suppressed by drugs and sex is considered dirty. When she is ambushed on a mission outside the dome and all but her colleague Alex is killed she finds herself on the run. On the run without the medication that stops her becoming 'Omega'. Worse still Alex is an Alpha whose very nature will force him to claim her with or without her consent. Just when she thinks the worse is over Raven and Alex meet Wolf and Ivan two Alpha Brothers living in the wild and two become four! When Raven is taken it will take the combined talents of her men to bring her safely back to them. This is one seriously hot dark romance book with scenes that some readers may find uncomfortable. The narration by Sarah Puckett and Sebastian Reynolds was excellent and only enhanced an already brilliant but deeply disturbing book...”
Duby’s Doctor “After being left for dead 'John Doe' aka DHS agent Yves Dubreau finds he has no memories and must re-learn everything. Beginning again is difficult enough without being hunted by assassins. Luckily for him he has help in the shapely form of Dr. Mitchell Oberon. As she helps Duby adjust to his 'new normal` she struggles to resist the man with the body of Adonis and the mind of a child. A true innocent caught up in the battle between good and evil. He will need all his old skills to stay alive and protect her, if only he could remember them... I loved listening to this clean and wholesome romantic suspense brought to life by Jenny Hoops excellent narration.”
Blinded: A second chance romance “I thoroughly enjoyed this romantic suspense featuring a great cast of characters and sympathetic narration by Meghan. Fair warning, although their is a HEA ending for the main characters, it does not conclude the other plotline in the book.”
After Midnight “I just loved Caleb as a character. I liked that the writer seemed to understand that not all Vets returning home suffer from PTSD but can still struggle with life after the military. Sarah had her own painful back story and there coming together was truly beautiful. Add in engaging friends and family, blackmail and loss and you have a cracking romance that I thoroughly recommend listening to.”
Cain (Bones MC 1) “I recommend listening to this sweet with heat MC Romance that features tough but fair Bones MC President Cain and the lovely young teacher running from a dangerous past who captivates his heart and soul. Add in three adorable children, a great cast of supplemental characters and some seriously hot scenes and you have a thoroughly enjoyable, if short MC Romance Book to listen to one dark and stormy night.”
Made to Beg (Mafia Masters, Book 5) “Piper Stones Mafia Masters goes out with a bang when the last 'Sons of Darkness' falls. When an old flame asks Chicago Kingpin Lorenzo Francesco for help he soon finds himself battling to save everything he cares about. Reporter Sierra Fox never expected her job to lead to her witnessing a murder. A murder that puts her squarely in the middle of a power struggle, and the only man who can save her is the man she swore to forget. Lorenzo discovers that much more is at stake then he thought possible. With this realisation he knows that it may take all of the 'Sons of Darkness' working together to win this war. And a miracle to keep the woman he loves alive and in his life forever.”
Claimed As Revenge (Mafia Masters, Book 4) “Piper and Jack deliver another delicious 'Sons of Darkness' enemies to lovers dark, twisted Mafia romance. This time it's Miguel Garcia's story. Facing his father's illness and an unknown enemy bent on destroying him, Miguel will need all his strength and friends to survive. Valencia Rivera has no idea that she is a pawn in a dangerous game. A game that will leave her at the mercy of the Garcia family and Miguel's dark desires. Can two people brought together by violence, secrets and lies ever find happiness together. Well that would be telling... I am loving Piper's Mafia Masters series with her dark heroes falling hard for strong beautiful women. A treat for any lover of steamy erotic romance that pushes boundaries out of the ball park. This series is seriously dark with elements of non consent, bullying and outright cruelty before the main characters come together. I would recommend to fans of Loki Renard, Addison Cain and Sara Fields.”
Forced To Cooperate (Mafia Masters, Book 3) “Aleksei Petrov is the next Sons of Darkness to fall to a strong woman. The woman in question is misguided assassin Willow Church. After failing to kill Bratva Prince Aleksei on her brothers orders Willow has no other option but to surrender herself to the 'Monster' she both hates and desires. Payment will be taken in pain and pleasure as she submits to her new 'Master'. Even as she fights back against his domination Willow comes to understand that not everything is black and white and that not only could she love her 'Monster' but that sometimes enemies are closer than you think. As the danger mounts, Aleksei must decide how far he is willing to go to protect her. Will he choose to let her go to ensure her safety or keep her by his side forever. No matter the cost to himself, his family, the Bratva or Willow herself. I am thoroughly enjoying binge listening to Piper's Mafia Masters, as always her stories are given life by Jack's narration.”
Taken as Collateral (Mafia Masters, Book 2) “The next Sons of Darkness to fall is Michael Cappalini aka filmstar Kelen Rock. After years of avoiding his obligations as heir, Michael is drawn back into the Mafia world when his father is seriously injured in an assassination attempt. In an attempt to find and neutralise the threat he kidnaps Mafia Princess Francesca Alessandro. The chemistry between these two antagonists is off the chart from the start and only became hotter the further I got into the book. Michael has no wish to fall in love and spends as much time punishing his captive as lusting over her. But in the end he will have to put his personal demons to rest if he is going to find his place, keep the peace and protect the woman he has come to care deeply for. I thoroughly enjoyed this highly addictive dark Mafia Romance with excellent narration as always by Jack.”
His as Payment (Mafia Masters, Book 1) “Mafia Masters follow the 'Sons of Darkness' who against the odds have formed a 'Band of Brothers' to aid each other when trouble calls. Each story features a different Mafia Prince and the women they fall in love with. The first 'Son' to fall is Dominick Lugiano. Dom is a hard man and he always gets what he wants and he wants Caroline Hargrove in payment for the sins of her Senator father. Caroline is as disobedient as she is beautiful and Dom craves to teach her, tame her and keep her but there are evil forces at work determined to destroy all he has worked for. It will take more than one Mafia Prince to take down his enemy but the question is, can he trust the other 'Sons'. The wrong decision could cost him everything and everyone he cares for, including Caroline. I thoroughly recommend this hot and steamy Dark Mafia Romance with Jack Calihans usual excellent performance bringing all the characters to life.”
McMillan File (The Rider Files Book 3) “PI Mica McMillan whilst trying to bring down a murderer ends up in the same hospital as old school crush David Rider now an emergency Doctor. David the estranged son of Maxine head of Rider security has no idea of the trouble he will find himself in when Mica reappears in his life. Mica, Maxine and the Rider Security team need to bring the bad guys to justice to keep David safe. If they can do that maybe Mica and David will have a future together. And maybe working together will reunite Mother and Son too. I loved listening to this cleanish romantic suspense featuring all my favourite characters, along with the additional bonus of a cameo appearance by Vladimir.”
Masters File (The Rider Files Book 2) “Doctor Jenna Masters ex husband puts her life at risk when he throws her to the wolves in payment for a 12 million dollar debt. Her only chance lies with attractive stranger, ex Army Ranger Ryan Walsh whom she met on vacation in Antigua. Ryan with the aid of his team at Rider Security races to keep her safe and find a viable solution to the problem. A solution that may come from an unlikely source. A source that owes her a blood debt. A favour she needs to collect. I enjoyed listening to another cracking sweet with heat romantic suspense from CB. There is a cliffhanger at the end but Ryan and Jenna are not directly involved.”
Meridian File (Rider Files Book 1) “When a rising tennis star receives death threats it puts her on a collision course with an ex Navy SEAL turned bodyguard. As the threat escalates so does the sexual tension between Mason and Aurora. Maybe Aurora will end the season with more than a trophy or two. Maybe she can also be a winner in the game of love. If only she can stay alive... I recommend this audiobook to fans of sports romance as well as mystery buffs.”
Circle of Blood Book One: Lover’s Rebirth “True Love Never DIES! The last thing Trey expected was to 'feel' his long dead soulmate in the midst of a deadly gun battle. But that is what happens when he touches lovely Della. The fact that he is an elder Vampire, leader of the New Orleans coven and she is human complicates things. Trey and his band of Vampire misfits are eternally locked in a struggle with demon lord Bael and it seems that for this fight at least that Della is at the centre of the battle. His struggles to separate his feelings for his lost love and the human woman who carries her soul are at the heart of the story and does end with a HEA. But only after a lot of angst, some steam, a few laughs and much violence. I loved listening to this book with its quirky characters and dark plotline. Although Trey and Della's story concludes the fight against Bael goes on and I for one can't wait to find out what happens next. More, please!”
Frenzy “Becoming Omega! This is my first 'Omegaverse' but not my last. It is the story of what happens when a dedicated scientist is forced to confront her base nature and her darkest desires. Raven is an Omega living in a Dystopian future where emotions are suppressed by drugs and sex is considered dirty. Hoss: A Rough Romance “Some like it rough! Hoss Bishop loved and lost Remi when they were younger when she seemingly stood him up at the prom. Now decades later he is a rough ex Army Ranger and Cowboy Dom and she is a successful Chef competing in a reality cooking show. When she finds her roommate dead, herself in the frame for murder and possible next victim she runs home to Texas and Morgan 'Hoss' Bishop. He is much changed from the gentle giant she new. Hotter, more domineering and happy to discipline her when she misbehaves. A woman who is always in control her mind struggles to submit to his rough sexual desires even as every cell in her body yearns to give him her submission. Hoss needs her to obey to have any chance of keeping her safe and this results in some highly charged spanking and rough sex scenes. As the danger to her escalates and their attraction threatens to explode he wonders if he has been given a second chance at love. Now he just needs to keep her alive long enough to convince her. This is my first book by Delta and I loved it! The narration by Jack made the book for me. However if sexy Cowboy Doms who aren't afraid to take what they want are not your thing then steer well clear of this rough hard dark romance due to sexual content including dubious consent.”
Hound of Night “Scotsman Jon Seton is a grifter, musician and a magic user. When Dante sets him the seemingly impossible task of tracking a leather halter that controls a hound of hell it sets him on a journey of discovery. A journey where he will face betrayal, loss and a family secret. A journey where he finally becomes the man he is meant to be. Where friends and enemies become intertwined and the only thing he can count on is himself, a magic mirror, his skill in knowing how to play the long game and what makes a good mark. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Lawrence really is a brilliant narrator and brought Scot Jon to life as well as all the other diverse characters. I particular enjoyed the 'ladies' in the mirror. Thoroughly recommended to all readers who enjoy Snarky Urban Fantasy.”
The Questing Beast “At times this book frustrated me but overall it was a really good second book which advanced the plotline in spectacular fashion. The story revolves around the twins we had a brief introduction to in The Circle Gathers and the length they will go to for each other. The question asked is what if you had to live your whole life as someone you were not. All to keep the one you love more than life itself safe from harm. How far would a person go to protect that someone? Become someone completely different. Wear a mask every day of your life. What would be the cost to a soul. That is the question that Perce Pellin faces every day since given a prophecy many years ago which fortold Dani's death. Now tasked with retrieving the blade of Llawfrodedd Farchog he has never felt so conflicted about who he has to be and the life he really wants to lead. Throw in demons, hellhounds and a mythical beast and you have a rollercoaster of a ride. Strap yourself in and enjoy yourself. I did! I am really getting to like Lawrence as a narrator he is excellent at character portrayal and really brings the story to life. Thoroughly recommended to lovers of good fantasy with more than a little snark!”
The Circle Gathers “I loved this book. The hero/antihero is a washed up MMA fighter who due to horrific visions creatures that can't exist has lost hope and become a drug addict and at the beginning honestly not a very nice person. She discovers that the nightmares may not be all in her mind when she meets an illusionist who is not what he seems. Dante Grimm is in need of a miracle and just might lie in the unsteady hands of Jessie Noble but first he will have to convince her that she is not losing her freaking mind. If he can't then hell will rain on earth and humanity will fall. A really good start to what looks like it could be an amazing Arthurian Urban Fantasy where nothing and no one is what or who they seem. The narration by Lawrence Locke only enhanced the story and I am really looking forward to the next book!”
