One Last Dance “This was a lovely read and it bodes well for the rest of the series. I've listened to many productions by Carolyn Kashner and I've enjoyed her narration each time. She really brings the characters and the time period to life through her performance. This book has my favourite genres, historical, romance and mystery. Although I enjoyed the romance what I liked most was the mystery. Intrigue and suspense kept me hooked and I loved the air of mystery behind a few of the characters. It kept me guessing to the end and of course it had a sweet, happy ending. This is one of my favourite books by Linda Weaver Clarke. More of this please. 🙂 I voluntarily reviewed an advance reading audio copy.”
Pretty Little Werewolf : Young Adult Shifter Fantasy “Pretty Little Werewolf is a story set in high school and the protagonists are teenagers so this book will appeal to teens. Giselle's situation at the beginning of the book really pulled on my heartstrings and I immediately became invested in her story. I wanted her to find a loving family. The mystery surrounding her new foster family and the some of the other kids who go to her new school adds to the drama. There is also a little bit of a love triangle as well but Giselle seems to be clear on her choice at the end of book 1. The showdown at the end was quite exciting and suspenseful. An entertaining listen and a series that I follow on audio.”
Shadow Council (Books 1-4) “An entertaining and thrilling listen. It was refreshing to have so many strong, female leading characters in one series. I will definitely be reading more from this author. The narrator was very good.”
Picture Perfect Murder “This was great fun. A thrilling mystery with lots of humour and a dash of romance. The perfect read to entertain me for a few hours. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series.”
The Billionaire’s Secret “Quite a nice story although it glossed too breezily over serious issues e.g a dying mother handing over her child to someone forever as if she was just giving them a piece of luggage, a 3 year girl losing her mother and being ok with it because Jesus talked to her in a dream and was going to send her a new mommy. Plz. I appreciate the Christian sentiment but I prefer a healthy dose of realism at the same time.”
The Boneyard Brotherhood: Three Book Collection “I was disappointed in these stories as I thought there would be action, suspense and romance but there really isn't much plot here. I persevered to the end because I was listening to a review copy. Book 1 ** The narration is very good but the story is so so. I was expecting a story based around an mc club but it is an instant love romance story. The female lead reads as though she is 14 years old which makes their love story quite creepy. Book 2 ** Another unrealistic and lazy way of bringing two characters together early in the book. What kind of a nurse phones a patient, a stab victim, to 'end her dry spell'? Book 3 *** This one was the best of the three. It had a decent storyline involving an undercover cop in the MC.”
The Devil Duke “Ozzy and Trevor are the most unlikely couple I've ever read. Izzy is a very immature 20 year old and Trevor, the Duke, is much older and a complete womaniser. I didn't really like either of them to begin with but Izzy's quirkiness had me laughing out loud and it wasn't long before I felt that the Duke wasn't good enough for this poor little orphan. I would have liked Izzy to have been a lttle bit older with more self respect. She begged him to have sex with her. I also found the American usage of 'fanny' a little odd as it doesn't mean the same thing over here. Hearing the phrase 'he spanked her fanny' was a little weird to my ears! An entertaining listen.”
Eagle Eyes Books 1-3 “I loved these stories. I liked that there is a central subplot running through the series so each story is connected. It made me want to listen straight away to the next book. The concept of the technology behind 'Eagle Eyes' is a good twist to the usual run of the mill FBI mysteries out there. The stories are suspense filled and easy listening.”
Southern Comfort “A good, romantic suspense with great cast of characters. The story is fast flowing and had me entertained from start to finish. The paranormal element towards the end took me by surprise even though I knew before starting it that it was an element of the book! There was no hint of it before it appeared and I was that immersed in the story that the paranormal aspect felt like a weird, random addition. The twister tornado in the middle of a gun fight and hostage situation was completely over the top but great fun. A good, entertaining read!”
Finding Justice “I am so pleased to have found this series. Ciana Stone is a new author to me and after reading this i am looking forward to listening to the rest of her books. I loved this book. There is just the right balance between romance and suspense. I got to know the characters very well and I couldn't wait to see the pair work things out. There were also quite a few interesting side characters and I'm itching to read their stories as the series progresses.”
