Audiobooks Unleashed Library

Bio
I got into audiobooks to have time to listen to some science and history nonfiction books. I resurrected my love of fantasy books with listening to The Lord of the Rings and have since become enthralled with LitRPG.

The Lord of the Rings
Dungeon World 4 “I received a free review copy from Audiobooks Unleashed and am leaving a voluntary review. If you enjoyed previous books in the series, I recommend listening to this one. The characters and story progress. We find out more about ways that mana can be used, the history of dungeon cores, and why Fred's parents were killed. Fred and company beef up his latest dungeon, a giant monster is created, a daring dungeon delve is made, and there is a little more romance. I look foreard to the next installment.”
Dungeon World 3 “I received a free review copy from Audiobooks Unleashed and am leaving a voluntary review. If you liked the first 3 books in the series, I recommend this one as it does not disappoint. The main characters set out on a quest to locate the townsfolk despite being targeted by roving dungeon defenders. They gain new abilities and face new challenges but the biggest challenge lies ahead. There is dungeon building and defense, battles, humor and romance. I look forward to reading more in book 4.”
Dungeon World 2 “I received a free review copy from Audiobooks Unleashed and am leaving a voluntary review. I enjoyed this book even more than the first one in the series. The story continues after Fred accidentally absorbed a core, which unfailingly brings vengeance upon all humans in the vicinity from the surrounding dungeons. What can be done? Build a dungeon and defend it. He works with the humans in Gatecross to help defend their town. This book features dungeon building, "tower" defense, cool battles, and a continuing relationship. I look forward to finding out what happens next.”
Dungeon World: A Dungeon Core Experience “I received a free review copy from Audiobooks Unleashed and am leaving a voluntary review. I enjoyed the book. The story follows Fred, who is a dungeon core but in human form because his parents were fire and water cores. He travels from the family dungeon to investigate two murders and begins learning more about humans, dungeons, delving and himself. I enjoyed the combat, leveling, and learning. It is an interesting and unique twist on the dungeon core sub genre. The story is engaging and I look forward to book 2 and seeing how the story continues. He makes friends, including the possible beginnings of a romantic relationship, and brings danger on at least himself. It’ll be interesting to see how those threads develop.”
The Desert Sequence “I received free review copies of these books from Audiobooks Unleashed and am leaving a voluntary review. Book 1 A conscious AI/NPC female desert runner accepts a job to transport a male player across the desert in her weaponized vehicle. Along the way, they experience challenges. She dislikes players but this one may be different. I liked the characters, enjoyed the romance, and found the world to be quite interesting. I recommend this series. Book 2 If you liked the first book, I think you will enjoy this one too. There is more romance as well as new things to learn about the world. The main character interacts with additional characters. It is fascinating to see the world through the eyes of an "NPC". More questions continue to be raised, which keeps the story and world fascinating. Book 3 If you enjoyed the previous books, I recommend listening to this one too. In this book, Maddie continues learning about her past, her world, and Earth. There are further developments with her boyfriend, new revelations, she takes advantage of the system, and confronts her ex-boyfriend. Lots of things happening in a short book. I liked the book. It keeps you guessing about what the nature of the world is precisely and wanting to know more about Maddie's origins.”
The Other Core: A Dungeon Core Epic, Station Cores Book 5 “I received a free review copy. Having suffered a loss at the hands of the horde of monsters from the Quizard Mountains, Milton brings back the Proctans and trains them for the final battle against their enemies. I enjoyed listening to this book. If you liked the previous books in the series, I recommend listening to this one too. It features small training fights as well as a large epic battle.”
The Kingdom Rises: Station Cores, Book Four “I received a free review copy. I enjoyed this book even more than book 3. If you liked the first 3 books in the series, I recommend reading this one too. There are some surprises in store with interesting strategies being employed. In this book, Milton works to help his friends level up, gain new abilities, improve his core and stats, and must deal with the planned attack by the bearzillas against the kingdom as well as the machinations of the cord power company.”
The Quizard Mountains Station Cores, Book 2 “I received a free review copy. The world and story are well thought out. The dungeon building and crawling are good. I liked the humor and budding romance as well. In this book, the Milton and his friends work to improve the dungeon by adding new creatures and traps and Brint explores the Quizzard Mountains with dungeon defenders. However, it seems they bite off more than they can chew as they face powerful monsters and powerful delvers. It was an enjoyable read, and I look forward to continuing the story in the sequels. If you liked the first book, you will like this one too.”
The Station Core “I received a free review copy from Audiobooks Unleashed and am leaving a voluntary review. I enjoyed the book. It features an interesting blend of science fiction and fantasy. The main character, Milton (a gamer), is abducted from Earth by aliens and becomes a station core, a high tech dungeon core. He starts out damaged and needs to use his tech and ingenuity, along with some help from an AI companion, to defend himself, repair his core, continue to build his dungeon/station, and, someday, get off the planet he crashed on. There is some humor in it with banter between main characters and just their peculiarities. If you like the author's Dungeon World series, you'll probably like this one as well. There are some similarities. It also features the same narrator. The narration is good.”
Eight-Bit Bastards: A Gamelit LitRPG retro gaming adventure “I received a free review copy and am leaving a voluntary review. I loved it! Some things that make this LitRPG unique are that the main characters have lived in VR for 100's of years already and have a history together. Also, they journey to an 8-bit realm based on video games from the 80's/early 90's (although it is still 3D). This leads to nostalgia, humorous situations, and a fresh take on the genre. If you enjoy video games from the 80's/early 90's and LitRPG's, I highly recommend buying this book. It was a lot of fun!”
Couch Potato Chaos “I requested this audiobook from Audiobooks Unleashed and have voluntarily left this review. I recommend the book. The main character, Tasha, is transported into an SNES game world inspired by Zelda and MMO's. In it, she learns she must complete a quest to prevent the world from being destroyed. Along the way, she meets good friends, fights monsters, levels up in her couch potato class, and finds that her experiences change her. I really enjoyed the humor and laughed out loud at various parts. I liked the pop culture references and found the story to be engaging and fun.”
The Trapped Mind Project “I requested this audiobook from Audiobooks Unleashed and have voluntarily left this review. I really enjoyed this book. It features quite a bit of crafting/magical crafting. There is also romance, magic, battles, along with progression. It was fun and was put together well. I definitely recommend the book. The main character is a trillionaire engineer in charge of a company mining asteroids who just wants to build things and relax. He enters an online game and finds what he is looking for along with much more. He is different than most other players and develops good relationships with NPC's as he learns more about crafting, magic, and the true nature of reality. The gods of the world complicate things with their machinations and present challenges for the main character. The narration was good.”
Queen of Nowhere “I received a free review copy. I enjoyed the book. If you like other books in the author's Thousand Tales universe, you will enjoy this one as well. The Thousand Tales universe explores the idea of mind uploading. A virtual Utopian world running on servers is created that people can access via tablets, VR pods, or mind u uploading. The MC wakes up in the simulation in 2040, 20 years after dying and having her brain frozen via cryonics. This book doesn't have a single all encompassing quest. Rather it is slice-of-life. This follows her first few weeks as she learns more about this virtual world, deals with hangups from her previous life, and finds purpose in virtual life. She enjoys the space realm, changes to a nonhuman race, fights space battles, mines minerals and upgrades her spaceship. The book is fun. It is intriguing to consider the various issues that would come up given uploading to a virtual world, like what if someone doesn't want to be brought back, in what ways could they find purpose in life, what are some fun things they could do, and what part of life/virtual life is most important.”
