Lori Dykes
A Bride for Travis “Simply wonderful. Lydia is an orphan and wants to adopt a small little girl from the orphanage she teaches at. But they are requiring she be married. By chance she is able to marry a man by proxy, as he just wants to help her but never intends to make the marriage real. But God steps in and makes these too come together who need each other.. Barbara Gross wins my heart again.”
The Shotgun Proposal “I love this series and this one is wonderful. It seems impossible. A match between two people who speak different languages. But God always has a plan and these two have a journey to happiness, but what an amazing journey it is! Barbara Goss, again brings her imaginative writing alive and Becky Boyd does a great job with the audible!!”
Katie: The Cattleman’s Daughters “Amazing! I loved this story and anxious to read/hear the rest of the series. There was a little mystery of how the father found the man for her daughter to marry and how he eased him into the ranch so that his daughter would interact with him. Truly wonder! The narrator was the very best and kept me mesmerized and with the wonderful words of Danni Roan, it truly does not get much better!”
Hope Eternal “This entire series is amazing and I have loved every one. The storyline and the narrator are truly the best. I love everything by Sandra Sinclair. Her stories warm the heart and make me sigh with happiness!”
Minding Benji “This entire series is amazing and I have loved every one. The storyline and the narrator are truly the best. I love everything by Sandra Sinclair. Her stories warm the heart and make me sigh with happiness!”
Captured Heart “This entire series is amazing and I have loved every one. The storyline and the narrator are truly the best. I love everything by Sandra Sinclair. Her stories warm the heart and make me sigh with happiness!”
The Guilty Proposal “Another amazing addition to this series! I am totally enthralled and such a big fan of Barbara's! Story and narration are A+++”
A Fresh Start for Christmas “Fantastic! Such a great heartwarming story and with the writing of Kimberly Grist and the narration of J Scott Bennett it is perfect!!!”
A Bride for Adam “A wonderful story of a young woman, Greta, marrying into a family her mother works for as a maid. She had always had a crush on Adam, one of their sons, but he was never there, off to sea with their shipping business. His brother Seth fell in love with Greta, and she agrees to marry him. Unfortunately on their wedding night, he has a breathing attack and passes away. She is truly heartbroken, but then finds she is with child and the parents send for Adam and he agrees for Greta to become his proxy bride. The only problem is he does not come home right away. It is actually several years and Greta is determined to take her child and start a life of her own and hopefully marry. But then Adam does come home... A journey to find happiness with the enthralling story by Barbara Goss, who always grabs me from the beginning, and with the awesome voice of J Scott Bennett, it does not get much better.. I could listen to him narrate for hours and with Barbara's writing, life is good.”
The Marshall’s Mission “Just wonderful! I am enjoying the audible versions of the historical westerns and of course with writer Barbara Goss at the helm, I knew it would be amazing! Spense Blackwood helps run his father's sawmill with his brothers but is asked to become a Deputy and help the US Marshall track down the person pushing out a bunch of ranchers in a small town in Kansas. It is not something Spense ever thought about doing but he agrees. His mission is to get work on the McKay ranch, the largest in the area because the owner is suspected because nothing has happened to his ranch. Then try to court his daughter to get close to them and find out what he can. Wow, this is a journey with so many twist and turns and as Spence gets to know Glenna McKay, Rory's daughter, he feels guilty about leading her own and almost refuses, but Glenna is really taken with him. The narrator J. Scott Bennett brought this story to life and his character voices were spot on. Mesmerized from beginning to end I can only say I cannot wait to listen to another audible by this author and narrator!”
Echo Canyon Brides Box Set – Books 4-6 “I loved this set! I think book 4 with Lucky was one of my favorites! He was so funny and kindhearted but could be fierce when needed. But book 5 was my favorite. Thad is a bounty hunter, older and takes on several kids and gets married to a mail order bride. I loved his tough exterior when dealing with criminals and his horse Killer was amazing! sit back and enjoy for hrs of great listening.”
Echo Canyon Brides Box Set – 1-3 “Linda Bridey does it again with this new series set in Echo Canyon and the lives and loves of those who come and go. I laughed out loud and felt pangs to the heart. The narrator of book one really was a little off with some of the voices but it improved with book 2. As always thankful for the free audible and enjoyed every one!”
Hearts in Hot Springs “Nora and Mathias story is just as wonderful as every one in this series! Kari Trumbo has quickly become one of my favorite authors and her writing always pulls at my heart! Nora has come to Hot Springs to open up a haberdashery, her dream and she finally finds a building that will work so that she can also live there in the back. Across the street is the mercantile and she meets handsome Mathias but his sister is terrible to Nora for some reason. Mathias guards his heart due to having been jilted in the past and his sister, a widow does not want that to happen again and she sees Nora as a threat to him. But all is not as it seems and there are many mishaps that put Nora in danger and it kept me turning the pages to see what would happen. With the writing of Kari and the great narration of Carol Grace Anderson, I could only sigh as I heard the last word. Do not miss this or any of this amazing series!”
One Wicked Kiss “A short sweet romance of an unexpected meeting and love at first sight.. Good narration and quick ending.”
A Lifetime to Share “I really did not think this second installment in the Oregon Trail Dreamin series could be better than the first. Wow. Can I say it again? Wow. It is equally as heart warming if not better. I love the Todd brothers and Eli, now taking over from his older brother is such a great leader. This is Eli and Amelia, or as he called her Amy's story and what a beautiful one As the wagon train heads to Oregon, Amelia is with her parents doing all the work. She has a limp but perseveres and drives the wagon, does the meals and everything. When they get to a ferry crossing, they try to leave her behind. (Oh I wanted to do bodily harm to those people!) Eli comes to the rescue and puts her to work cooking and when Eli gets hurt, she tends him and all demand they marry since she was alone with him. They do marry but she knows no one will ever care for her due to her injury on her hip that she feels is hideous. But fate has a way of stepping. This is a journey filled with secrets, lies, vicious people, but more so the power of love and the strength that can be found in the toughest of times. With the truly amazing voice ot Tom Jordan (can you fall in love with a voice?) who has the perfect inflections and differences to each character to bring them alive, and the creative words of Kathleen Ball, who is a writer of the heart, you will be transported to a place and time that makes you feel you are right there with the characters and surroundings. I cannot wait for Jed's tale!!!”
Lawfully Rescued “The Lawkeepers series by different authors is truly wonderful. But this story by Barbara Goss is at the top. A bounty hunter waning justice and hunting for the killer. A woman finagles her way in to identify him. There are a lot of twist and turns and emotions that play out that had me anxious to see what would happen. The narrator was perfect for the voices and with Barb's words this came together as a must listen! Loved it as I do all of this author's stories!”
The Reckless Proposal “Another amazing story by Barbara Goss. These audibles have really taken me through the Covid19 days and made me smile and happy! Of course they would anytime and if you have read or listened to her books, you will know exactly what I mean! I tell you, Ned just needed to be shaken! He had been crazy about Ellen in the first book of this series and ready to ask her to marry him. This one starts where he does ask her but now Ellen isn't sure anymore. She had started teaching which had been her dream forever and wanted to go find a job at a school. Then Ned meets beautiful Maria, who was there with her family from England and only wanted to go back home. When they finally do and Ned is left feeling abandoned, the story starts to get interesting. The narrators where a male and female and I they did a great job. But I think I prefer just one narrator overall. Another great addition to this series!! Loved it!”
The Kissing Bridge: Cassie’s Story “This story touched my heart and the narrator was perfect!! Do not miss any of the Hearts of Hays series or for that matter anything Barbara Goss writes!! Hours of heartfelt entertainment and great lessons learned.”
Disarming Amy “Another wonderful story by Sandra E Sinclair that had me hanging on to every word! Eugene was expected to marry a woman he would never be able to love... Just so his father would gave more wealth and prestige. He decided he would set out on his own and find a woman who would want him... just for him. Of course his best friend Toby was going with him (oh I want to hear Toby''s story!) so they set out, Amy Wheeler lives with her sister Millie and father on his ranch. Her life is pretty straight forward. She is going to marry Seth who had been her friend growing up and move to Maine for his job. When Gene and Toby end up at her father's ranch helping as ranch hands, Amy & Gene's paths collide and their journey begins. A grandmother, cousin and locket all bring out a past that change several lives and the path they will take. I can only say again, C J McAllister is my favorite narrator and is perfect for this author's amazing stories. I actually may have to start over and listen to them all again! I was also happen for a character Cal to make an appearance. Perfect!”
Lost Fortune “Such a truly mesmerizing story that held me in it's grip until the end! Rilla Staub has finally returned from France where she had been in boarding school since she was 8. Now back in Boston, at the train station she was excitedly looking for them to claim her, but instead it was their lawyer. He had to tell her they had both been killed in a carriage accident and he proceeded to tell her the truth about her parentage and what they had left to her. She finds out she has a half brother and that he will inherit their home and other things there and she decides to go to California to her inheritance there, trying to outrun what she knows will ruin her in Boston. So she wants to start a new life and figure out how to meet the further stips in the will. Just an amazing story and I loved every word of C J McAllister's narration. He is truly amazing and made the story come alive with the magical words of Sandra E Sinclair. I cannot wait to listen to the next in this series and trust me, you do not want to miss this one or any by this duo!”
Mail Order Mishap “This is the start to an amazing series that I have now listened to each story. Barbara Goss is one of my favorite authors and combined with the voice of Meghan Kelly, the story comes alive. An unexpected story of a mail order bride and the two men she has come to meet. A journey that is unforgettable and brings forth many unexpected happenings. I could not wait to go to the next as I finished this one and could not stop until I listened to them all! I want to thank Barbara for making these audibles available. They have been a joy in my life!”
Gambled Pride “I have fallen in love with audible and with historical westerns. This story is exactly why. Two broken people who need each other terribly, they just don't know it yet and the path that brings them together. Rachel and her sister Mary Beth had been left at the hands of their terrible father when their mother left. Mary Beth has been planning for her and Rachel to go out west and be mail order brides. She had been corresponding with two men and putting away money. But she ends up passing away and Rachel makes a run for it. There are so many layers to this story and the narrator C J McAllistar brought this story of the heart alive and I did not want to miss a single word. I listened every spare minute I had and at the end, I could not wait to go to the next one by this author.. I just want to thank the author for making this available and she has won a devoted fan forever!”
Dangerous Illusions “As I write this review I have listen to this entire series and I loved every second! They take place in Hays, Kansas, a small town with a lot of great people. When Kate comes to Hays to become a teacher, everything is not as she thought. The school had not really been set up yet and she was going to stay with a family for a bit and then move on to the next. When the school was decided on it was at an older house donated by Josh Redfield. She'd heard all the rumors about him.. having killed his wife or that is what everyone gossiped about. This is a wonderful story that reminds us not to listen to gossip and that everything is not always as it seems. Barbara Goss always grabs me quickly and pulls me in to her amazing stories of the heart. Combined with the narrator and this was a beautiful story!!!”
Stolen Heritage “First I apologize for adding the incorrect review above. I am posting several reviews of Barb's books and pasted that one from my audible library. Here is the correct one!! This is one of my favorite of Barbara's stories. Although I know that I say that as I listen or read another! I listen every spare second I have and yes, I have become a little obsessed with her books. The reason? They speak to me with her gentle words of faith and how it is an integral part of her message but not overpowering. The first pages really tore at my heart but was necessary to set up the background of the main character Running Brook. She is taken by Indians when she is an infant and her mother killed and is raised by them. Then rescued when she was about sixteen by a Quaker family and taught the ways of the white man and being a Christian. When her rescuers think they have located two possibilities for her real family, she is escorted to Texas by Capt Jeremy Grant and his Indian guide. What a wonderful journey and with one of my favorite narrators Leon Nixon, the story comes alive. The prologue actually brought tears to my eyes and I could only sigh with the happiness Barbara's stories bring..”
Stolen Heritage “ALmost every story that the wonderful Barbara Goss writes, has so many wonderful messages that speak to the heart and soul. Although set many years past a lot of what this says is true today. That there are many prejudices where there should not be as we should all love one another. Coming from wealth and a social life in Boston, Sarah Clarke takes a journey when she finds that her grandfather, who she had never met, left her a cattle ranch in Texas. Her escort is a half breed Indian called Storm. She is at first terrified of him and all the Indians that accompany their journey. But things begin to change slowly as the story unfolds. With the wonderful spot on narration by Leon Nixon and the words of Barbara Goss, this story held me enthralled until the last page. Simply lovely.”

Captured Heart “Every time I think I have read/listen to the best Barbara Goss story another one comes along! On a wagon train with her family headed to California to get to her aunt, Amanda finds out how hard life can get. Her entire family dies of cholera and she is spared. Heavy with her grief but determined to get to her aunt, she ends up being asked to join in with the wagon train in front of her and help care for a sick young girl in their wagon. Charles is the handsome smooth talking man that says he is rich and has a fabulous hotel in San Francisco and she begins to be charmed. But Luke is a young man that keeps and eye on her and is determined to warn her away from Charles. My heart just became engaged with Jan Ross, the narrator who was excellent. She brought Barbara's story alive and I listened every second I had. Now on to my next BG audible!”
Shadow of Love “Anna finds herself in a terrible situation and needs to earn money. What she thinks is just cleaning rooms ends up in a bawdy house and she just cannot do what they really want. Billy rescues her because he needs a wife to get the job as pastor. Such a wonderful story and the narrator brought it to life!”
Mail Order Calamity “I have loved every single book in this series and this one is no exception! Great story and narration!! Barbara Goss is brilliant!”
The Romantic Ruse “Oh what a tangled web we weave when the truth is held back! One of my favorite of Barbara's stories (yes I say that about all of them!) . Lily and Emma were the best of friends and Emma had been corresponding with a man out West to become his mail order bride. But her old love came back and they married. She asked Llly to post Gus a letter she had written to let him know she had to break it off. Lily's father was determined to marry her off to a man that would help him with his business and she saw her way to escape when she read the letter Emma had written and that it held a train ticket in the envelope. Lily goes to meet Gus and pretend she is Emma, but things go pretty quickly and they are both attracted to each other. How will she tell him? Wow what an excellent narration by Ann Thompson who was perfect for this story. Then the journey the two take to try to find their happy ever after. Some good advice and Bible passages that bring this one all together!! Perfect!”
Dreams in Deadwood “This started it all. Well the Arnsby's going to Deadwood, SD anyway! Jennie Arnsby was about to turn eighteen and she was stuck on a wagon train going to SD. All she wanted to do was stay in Cutter's Creek with her mother, but she was told she had to go with her sisters. Her older sister Ruby and her husband Beau pretty much lead everyone and Beau had deemed himself their protector, taking the place of a father figure (of course their real father was another matter). Along the way they ran into a man who had lost his horse when he died and he ended up hitching a ride with them because he through Deadwood was as good as any! Aidan just wanted to find gold, or that is how it started out. This is a journey of finding out how you can make the best of the life you are given and just have to do what is right and clear your conscience. Aidan was a wounded soul but he took a journey to find his heart. Meghan Kelly is one of the best narrators and brought this story alive! I love this family and an anxious to read/listen to them all. Thank you Kari Trumbo for this inspiring series!”
Shadow of Deceit “One of the best series ever!! Barbara Goss knows exactly how to pull me into her stories and when you listen to them in audible, it brings out an entirely new dimension. I am truly addicted to her books and to audible!! The wounded hero or heroine or maybe both, needing redemption and finding faith which helps to bring them through. Finding that God forgives all and is always there for us if we believe. With Tom Jordan narrating, it was perfect! His inflections an different voices for the characters quickly pulled me in and I listened every free second I had! This is the story of Julia and Caleb and their journey to love!”
