Bio
I am a children's librarian in a public school.  My mom started my love of historical romance when I was in the 8th grade. I was flunking reading. She gave me "Petals on the River" by Kathleen E. Woodiwiss, and as they say, that is history.  I am dyslexic, married, kitty mama, Mimi to 6, sister to 1, and live in Colorado but my heart remains with family in Maryland. I love Reading, Genealogy, and Geocaching. I review a lot on Goodreads, NetGalley, Amazon, and Audible. https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/3709998-readingwench
Mail Order Bride: Westward Winds (Montana Mail Order Brides, Book 1) “I first read this book in 2016. Here is my review. I enjoyed this book. I really liked the characters and enjoyed the way the book flowed. Although this was a short book, it did not lack on anything. I have already bought #2 & #3 in this series and am looking forward to them. Those who love western Mail order bride stories will definitely love this book. I just now listened to it on audio. J. Scott Bennett really brings this book to life! It went from a 4 star to a 5 star because of him”
The Rancher’s Widowed Bride (Birch River Brides #7) “I really liked this book. I thought the characters were well thought out and written. I liked how this was a 2 in one story. Sometimes I hate waiting for the next book…hoping it will be the next book. Interesting and a great story.”
The Lawyer’s Mail Order Destiny (Iron Creek Brides, Book 11) “A fantastic addition to the Iron Creek Series. I love how you revisit this town and yet, it never gets old. There are new faces to "see" and old ones to visit. This story, as with all of this author, is unique. I look forward to reading more by her and this series.”
Iron Creek Brides: Books 5 – 8 (Iron Creek Brides Collection, Book 2) “Great set of books. Each one is well written and the stories are great.”
The Hotelier’s Mail Order Widow (Iron Creek Brides, #9) “I had been looking forward to Jonny’s book since I read about his twin. The heroine this author creates is awesome. The complex storyline was great! I loved the friend aspect as well. The deep emotions involved in this story really pulled it all together. A wonderful book”
The Doctor’s Mail Order Bride (Birch River Brides, Book 5) “Another great book in the Birch River series. I really enjoyed this book. I loved the characters in this book. The way each of them interacted was very believable. I liked the bit of mystery thrown into this book. The outcome of the mystery was not expected.”
The Lonely Sheriff’s Mail Order Bride (Birch River Brides, Book 2) “This author does something I love besides writing a great story. She lists the characters at the beginning of the book and shows the date at the beginning of the chapters. Love it. This story was a continuation of the Birch River series. I loved the characters and the storyline of this book. I look forward to reading more from this author and this series.”
The Carpenter’s Mail Order Dilemma (Iron Creek Brides, Book 5) “Another excellent book in the Iron Creek series. Karla Gracey gives the reader what they want. First, gotta love the series, and the number in the series is written on the front. Then listing the characters at the beginning of the book. This helps me at least keep people straight. Then Putting the date at the beginning of each chapter is awesome. You know the time frame you are dealing with. Then of course she writes fantastic characters. Then she writes a story you get invested in. Yep. This author is great and delivers a story that sets with you. Can't wait for the next!”
Daisy Creek Brides: Books 13-16 “The Daisy Creek series is a great series to read or listen to. I recommend listening to it from the beginning.”
Iron Creek Brides: Books 1-4 “This is a great set of books. The Iron Creek series does not disappoint.”
The Mayor’s Stalked Mail Order Bride (Birch River Brides, Book 3) “I really enjoyed this next installment of the Birch River Series. After the last book, I really wanted a story about the mayor. This author made him human, a man that can make mistakes. The characters Amelia Rose creates are realistic and well thought out. I liked the storyline as well. Incorporating the local Sioux tribe and the storyline that follows was great. I look forward to more from this author and this series.”
The School Teacher’s Mail Order Mistake (Iron Creek Brides, Book 6) “I really enjoyed this book. The characters are relatable and likable even tho you want to strangle them every once in a while. I liked how this story flowed as well. It’s not the typical story some have come to expect. I can’t wait for the next one.”
Mail Order Abduction (Green River Brides, Book 1) “I loved the storyline of this book. There were twists and turns that kept the story fresh and interesting. The characters are well thought out and I look forward to seeing more of them in future books. This is a great beginning to the Green River series.”
The Widow’s Mail Order Husband (Birch River Brides, Book 4) “Good mail order bride story. This is a nice addition to the Birch River Brides Book. I liked that the mother-in-law was a key person in the story.”
The Baker’s Mail Order Miracle (Iron Creek Brides, Book 7) “I really liked this book. I loved the unique mail-order storyline. The characters were well written and the story was great. You won't be sorry if you read this great book.”
The Soldier’s Mail Order Deception (Iron Creek Brides, Book 8) “I enjoyed listening to this book. I have been waiting on this story and it did not disappoint. The characters are great and the world-building of this town is fantastic. I love revisiting this town and look forward to more in the series.”
The Stagecoach Driver’s Mail Order Family (Iron Creek Brides, Book 4) “A great continuation in the Iron Creek series. You can read this book alone if you like. The well-written and complex characters are amazing. I cannot wait to revisit them in a future book in this series. I loved this interesting storyline. There are a couple of stories in the background that one hopes we'll see in a future book. This is a nice, easy read that leaves you wanting more...but in a good way.”
The Homesteader’s Secretive Bride (Daisy Creek Brides, Book 15) “First of all, I love the cover. It is very similar to the others in the city and lets you know the series and number in the series it is. I loved the evolution of Daisy Creek so far and this enhances it. The characters are fantastic and the writing is great. The story was great and I loved "seeing" characters from the other stories. Gina Dobbs is great as narrator.”
The Indian’s Mail Order Bride (Daisy Creek Brides, Book 16) “This is a very unusual take on mail-order bride story. I have never heard of an Indian wanting a mail-order bride. How this story was created is beyond me. It is very unique and I didn't expect any of it. I loved it. Just when you thought you knew what the next book was going to be about....ehhhh wrong. This author is great in coming up with a never before story ever heard. LOVED it! Gina Dobbs is great as narrator.”
The Sheriff’s Mail Order Rescue (Iron Creek Brides, Book 3) “If you want a good, easy, wholesome, interesting, and great story, this is for you. The Iron Creek Series is amazing. This is book 3. However, you can read it alone. The characters are fantastic. I LOVED the grandmother. Clara is so wonderful and Matt...oh Matt, I just want to hug him. The story is fantastic. It has some twists and turns that I was not expecting. I am looking forward to reading more in the series.”
A Railroad of Love (Daisy Creek Brides, Book 14) “I have been waiting on this book for a while. Anyone who read any of the Daisy Creek series knows how bad the mayor wants the railroad to come to Daisy Creek. This story is not what I envisioned. The characters are well developed and perfect for this story. I liked how a farmer's widow was a perfect fit for a railroad businessman. Any preconceived notions of the ability of this widow are put out the window when they start talking about the town and bringing the railroad. Great story. Great Characters. Loved it.”
Dreams of a Bride (Daisy Creek Brides Book 11) “Fantastic book by Amelia Rose. The Daisy Creek series is wonderful. This book is very different than the others in the series, yet blends well in with the rest of the series.”
The Blacksmith’s Mail-Order Doctor (Iron Creek Brides, Book 2) “Fantastic book in this new series. I loved the characters and their complexity. The story was great as well. It was also great to see characters from the 1st book in the seris. I look forward to reading more of this series.”
The Mountain Man’s Mail-Order Surprise (Iron Creek Brides, Book 1) “This is a great story to start off a new series. I loved the story and how it followed and the details it had. I look forward to reading more in this series.”
The Indian Warrior’s Deaf Bride (Daisy Creek Brides Book 13) “Lucky #13. Thirteen in the series. LOVED IT. The characters in this story were so well thought out. I thought this story was perfect for the characters. Everything in this book was well thought out. Stop reading now... Spoiler ahead... It would be amazing if this author would write as Akecheta and publish his book”
The Pastor’s Mail Order Surprise (Birch River Brides Book 1) “AHhhhh such a good story. I think writing the first book in a series is probably the hardest. You have to set everything up. The town. The people. The vibe. The scenery. This is a great start off to a new series. I love the town and its residents. I cannot wait for more books to see how this town grows. The characters this author has created are fantastic. She has really developed them well and I can't wait to read more about them.”
Daisy Creek Brides: Books 9-12 (Daisy Creek Brides Collection Book 3) “Daisy Creek is a fantastic series to listen to. It has romance, sadness, happiness, mystery, intrigue, you name it, it's there for you.”
The Misled Mail-Order Bride (Daisy Creek Brides Book 12) “Another fantastic book in the Daisy Creek series. Many times once a series goes past 3 or 5 books people may lose interest. However, with this author, you won't lose interest. Every book in this series is very unique. This book is written well and there are characters with depth and personality.”
Autumn’s Hope “I listened to this one on audio. I thought this book a bit funny. I mean come on, a vegetarian restaurant in a cattle town? You know this book has ups and downs. Good book.”

Bear Creek Brides: Books 9 – 12 “Great series! The audio, however, ugh. I did not like the narrator due to mispronounced words. The stories however are fantastic!”
Christian’s Promise “I listened to this one on audio. I really liked this book. It was well written and I loved the characters.”
Courting Gina “I listened to this one on audio. I really liked this book. The characters are great. The story has some twists and turns that were unexpected.”
Clifford’s Hidden Bride “I listened to this one on audio. I liked the idea of this story. It sets up the series very well. The characters are well developed and I really enjoyed the story. The banter of the brothers is so realistic it makes you shake your head. This is a short book you should listen to or read.”
The Handsome Rancher on The Train “I listened to this one on audio. This book was a clean book and was easy to listen to. The characters were good and I liked the story. In the middle of this book I thought, man, I should have read the others in the series first, but, too late then. I felt like I was missing something small, but it didn't deter me from the story.”
Longren Family Trilogy: Clean Historical Western Romance “I love Amelia Rose. I like the way she writes and her stories. However, this series felt like it was not written by her. It is written in the first person, which is just odd in my opinion. I do like the characters in the book. I listened to this on audio and it was good. Not great, but ok.”
Bear Creek Brides: Books 5 – 8 “I listened to this entire book series on audio. The first 4 books, great. Books 5-8 are great, however, the narrator for 5-8, ugh. Especially with book 6. ( more on that following ) I did listen to this on audio. The narrator is fair at best, to be honest. Half the time she gives the heroine a southern accent, other times no. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh, and man, This bugged me so bad to the point I wanted to stop listening to the book. ( I didn't tho because it was so action-packed ). She kept saying the livery stable...instead of livery as in I will live a 100 years, she kept saying live as in Saturday Night Live. OH, man. It bugged me so so much! I guess I will see how this narrator does in the next book. This happened the entire 5-8 books. Sigh. I have the next 4 and this same narrator does that one too. I probably won't be listening to it. Book 5 - I loved that there was a "disabled" character in this book. I love how realistic this character was and how she knew lots of Indian Sign Language. The heroine in this book is fantastic. I love how down-to-earth she is. This story was fantastic and I loved the way everyone comes together. Book 6 - This story was fantastic!! I mean wow!!! Everything was perfect in the story. Action-packed, suspenseful. Book 7 - I thought this one was not up to the authors' normal standards. There were repetitive stories being used that felt forced. Book 8 - Loved this story. The characters are fantastic and I loved the story. There were a couple twists that I did not see coming.”
The Mail-Order Doctor and the Sheriff (Daisy Creek Brides, Book 6) “Wonderful story. It has a Dr. Quinn vibe to it. I loved the characters and how and why this bride was sent for. The story was fantastic and I loved the organic flow to it.”
Daisy Creek Brides: Books 1-4 “I listened to these 4 books on audio. I love them. This is a fantastic series. I love how this author writes. She gets deep into the characters and the plot that seems very natural.”
Secretive Mail-Order Bride and the Horse Breeder (Daisy Creek Brides, Book 5) “This is another great book by Amelia Rose set in Daisy Creek. Doesn't the name just sound wonderful...Daisy Creek. Samantha is a complex character for sure. I LOVE her. The entire story is wonderful. The characters, storyline, plot, everything is great. You can read this alone. It is in a series ( I love a series ), but you can read it alone, but I think you will get more out of it reading it in order. My opinion.”
The Hopeful Mail-Order Bride’s Destiny (Daisy Creek Brides, Book 3) “Another great book by Amelia Rose. I loved this story. I thought it was unique and well thought out.”
Unexpected Mail-Order Bride for the Pastor (Daisy Creek Brides Book 2) “I listened to this great book by Amelia Rose. This was a great storyline and I fell in love with the characters. It is a great continuation of this series, however, you can read it as a stand-alone and not be lost.”
Runaway Mail-Order Bride and the Mayor (Daisy Creek Brides Book 7) “First of all, this is a great series. It can be read out of order if you want. Amelia Rose is a great writer who has all the details covered. I loved this story. It didn't go the way I thought at all. The characters were well thought out and well developed. She touches on other couples in the series, yet stays the to this story. I loved the different levels of the story as well. It's just not about 2 people. It's about the relationship with everyone in town and the local Indian tribe as well, along with the "bad guys". Excellent book”
Bear Creek Brides: Books 1 – 4 “I listened to this one on audio. The narrator, Alan Taylor, is fantastic! Book 1 - The story for this book is quite interesting. I thought it fantastic and a great and perfect start to this series, Bear Creek Brides. Book 2 - I listened to this one on audio. The narrator, Alan Taylor is fantastic! I loved the realness of this story. Trying to write with a broken arm, then the person reading it thinking, whoa, what is happening. I loved the relationship between the character and her employer. Book 3 - I listened to this one on audio. The narrator, Alan Taylor was fantastic! This book was great. Loved it. There was a bit at the beginning and I thought ok. The person is our heroine. Then the story progresses wonderfully. Then bam, this person shows up. I had actually forgotten about her. That was funny because of her personality. I loved the characters and story of this book! Book 4 - I listened to this one on audio. The narrator, Alan Taylor is fantastic! This was an excellent book. The characters of course are great, you can't expect anything less from this author. The story was great and incorporated real-life historic events, like the army rounding up Indians and putting them on the reservation. There were a few twists I did not see. I would say this book is a bit more complicated and detailed than others this author has written so far in this series, but it needs to be. Excellent. I look forward to reading/listening to more in this series.”

A Fresh Start for Christmas “I listened to this one on audio. I really like this narrator. I have listened to him before reading other stories and he is great. He brings subtle nuances to his voice and brings the characters and story to life. I don't think you can go wrong with J. Scott Bennett. The story is great. I love the idea of this story. I know you hear of orphans in stories, but she wasn't really, but she was. I loved the characters in this book. The names are fantastic I must admit. Like this family, I do something every year for Christmas as well. They gave me a few ideas that I will implement. I do look forward to the rest in the series.”

Mail Order Vixen “I want to give this book a stellar review. But I can not. A few times I wanted to kill Cole, or at least maim him. Abigail was no different. I wanted to smack her sometimes. I loved the writing about her hair getting done. It made me chuckle. I have had this conversation with a friend who is biracial about hair. I am so glad you touched on that. I loved the story and flow of this book. I am looking forward to reading or listening to the next in the series.”

A Bride for Adam “At first I read the synopsis of his book and thought, nope, I don't think I will like it. Why? Well because the hero is a seaman and loves his life on a ship. I is just not my thing. HOWEVER. I got the audio and listened to it. I loved it! Why did I doubt a Barbara Goss book?! I really loved it. It was unique and interesting. I loved the characters and the way the story progressed. A few twists and turns was great as well. Sadness, anger, shock, interested, and thoughtful are a few that come to mind. The story unfolded nicely and unexpectedly. There were many twists and turns in this fantastic book that had me wanting more. I read this book in one sitting because the thought of putting it down….well, that thought never crossed my mind. The Epilogue. Most times an author just writes about the main characters. Ms. Goss elaborated on some of the people who she introduced you to besides the main characters. This is a great asset for setting up the next book in the series. If the rest of the books in this series are even remotely as good as this one was, I will be buying them all.”

The Reckless Proposal “I listened to the audio book version of this book. It was the first time I had ever listened to a book that had both a female and a male voice actors. They are known as "The Duo". I found that having both of them reading the different parts brought this book more to life than if one person done it. The accents were off for the woman who read, and sometimes way off, however, I really enjoyed listening to this book! The story was great! I look forward to reading more in the series! The book ended to me, with a cliffhanger. I was listening and then....audible thanks you ... WHAT? Come on!”

The narrator is fantastic. Love him.”
